El Instituto de Geología y Paleontología es, además, el Servicio Geológico de Cuba.

Desde hace siete años trabajo como Director de Gestión del Conocimiento y he participado en numerosos acontecimientos importantes que, desde el punto de vista científico, han impactado en el desarrollo científico, económico, ambiental y social.

En tal sentido y, para seguir promoviendo el desarrollo de las ciencias geológicas y el intercambio científico se acaba de consumar un hecho relevante que tuvo a nuestra institución, como sede de este acontecimiento que impactará directamente en el desarrollo de la Geología de Cuba.

En esta publicación les mostraré parte de la actividad inaugural que es una de las más significativas ocurridas en los últimos años.

¡Rusia y Cuba amplían su cooperación en materia de geología!

Se ha inaugurado en La Habana, capital de Cuba, un Aula Geológica Karpinsky, en su cuarta edición.

El acto reunió a destacados representantes de la industria geológica cubana, entre ellos Juan Ruiz Quintana, Director del Departamento de Minería del Ministerio de Energía y Minas de la República de Cuba, Blasa Caridad Delgado Diez, Directora del Instituto de Geología y Paleontología de la República de Cuba, Serguéi Oboznov, Consejero de la Embajada de la Federación de Rusia en la República de Cuba, Inna Chetiy, representante de Rossotrudnichestvo, y Pavel Khimchenko, Director General del Instituto Karpinsky.

Durante la ceremonia oficial de inauguración se subrayó la importancia de impulsar proyectos conjuntos ruso-cubanos en el ámbito de la geología, la utilización del subsuelo y las ciencias de la Tierra.

Esta cooperación tiene una rica historia: los geólogos soviéticos hicieron una significativa contribución al estudio del subsuelo cubano en el siglo pasado.
Por otra parte, en el acto se presentó una exposición geológica educativa y una biblioteca, que funcionarán como parte del Aula Geológica Karpinsky.

El programa de apertura incluyó varias conferencias educativas. Al final de la jornada a todos los asistentes se les entregaron certificados de participación.
En la actualidad, Rusia y Cuba están retomando una fructífera interrelación, estrechando sus lazos amistosos y profesionales. Dentro del Aula Geológica Karpinsky se impartirán conferencias, presentaciones y se realizarán otras actividades educativas que permitirán ampliar los conocimientos de los especialistas cubanos en el campo de la geología.

Estamos seguros de que la apertura del Aula Geológica Karpinsky en la República de Cuba constituirá un paso importante hacia el desarrollo de la cooperación bilateral y la capacitación de personal altamente cualificado para el sector geológico.

Una reflexión final

Este hecho constituye otro punto importante para seguir desarrollando la Geología de Cuba. En esta aula estarán participando investigadores de las Ciencias de la Tierra con protagonismo para los jóvenes ingenieros que tienen la misión de continuar fomentando el desarrollo y la historia que tiene el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología, Servicio Geológico de Cuba.

A necessary introduction

The Institute of Geology and Paleontology is also the Geological Survey of Cuba.

For seven years I have been working as Director of Knowledge Management and I have participated in many important events that, from the scientific point of view, have had an impact on scientific, economic, environmental and social development.

In this sense, and in order to continue promoting the development of geological sciences and scientific exchange, a relevant event has just taken place in our institution, which will have a direct impact on the development of Geology in Cuba.

In this publication I will show you part of the inaugural activity, which is one of the most significant in recent years.

**Russia and Cuba expand their cooperation in the field of geology!

A Karpinsky Geological Classroom, now in its fourth edition, has been inaugurated in Havana, the capital of Cuba.

The event brought together prominent representatives of the Cuban geological industry, including Juan Ruiz Quintana, Director of the Mining Department of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Republic of Cuba, Blasa Caridad Delgado Diez, Director of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology of the Republic of Cuba, Sergey Oboznov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cuba, Inna Chetiy, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo, and Pavel Khimchenko, General Director of the Karpinsky Institute.

During the official opening ceremony, the importance of promoting joint Russian-Cuban projects in the field of geology, subsoil utilization and earth sciences was emphasized.

This cooperation has a rich history: Soviet geologists made a significant contribution to the study of the Cuban subsoil in the last century.
Moreover, an educational geological exhibition and a library, which will function as part of the Karpinsky Geological Classroom, were presented at the event.

The opening program included several educational lectures. At the end of the day all attendees were given certificates of participation.
At present, Russia and Cuba are resuming a fruitful interrelationship, strengthening their friendly and professional ties. Within the Karpinsky Geological Classroom there will be lectures, presentations and other educational activities that will expand the knowledge of Cuban specialists in the field of geology.

We are confident that the opening of the Karpinsky Geological Classroom in the Republic of Cuba will be an important step towards the development of bilateral cooperation and the training of highly qualified personnel for the geological sector.

A final reflection

This fact constitutes another important point for the further development of Cuban Geology. In this classroom will be participating researchers of the Earth Sciences with prominence for young engineers who have the mission to continue promoting the development and history of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Geological Survey of Cuba.
