You Have Erectile Dysfunction? These are Possible Causes

It can be embarrassing to go after a lady, probably your girlfriend, or wife (maybe on your wedding night) for a long time, only to get the heartbreaking news that you as a man have a weak erection. The lady would be disappointed, the man embarrassed, both of feeling very bad with the man wishing he could have done better, and the woman thinking she just made the wrong choice.

In the midst of this drama is one culprit, Weak Erection and a lot of men suffer from it. Depending on your source, some say 18% of US men below the age of 20 suffer from weak erection, some say that about 17 of global men has experienced a form of mild erectile dysfunction. This shows that weak erection or erectile dysfunction is a big deal in men. Now that we have mentioned this, what causes erectile dysfunction?

To understand weak erection, we need to first get a glimpse of what erection is. When the brain gets the feeling that it is about to get the good stuff from down there, it will send a message to the penis which relaxes the muscles inside the penis. This allows for blood to flow in causing the penis to enlarge and become erect. Some veins in the penis becomes blocked thereby preventing the blood from going back and this causing the erection to stay long but you see, in all the enlargement and expansion, there are some things that we do that causes us to have weak erection, and one is very common, and people in my area even mention it at every little opportunity they get, and that is Sugar.

Consuming excess sugar has been implicated to cause a lot of things and weak erection is one of them. From a can of soda, to cake, to that gummy bear, there is an increase in your blood glucose levels which then increases the insulin level in the body, and when there is a continuous increase in insulin, the body's testosterone is reduced making it difficult to have a strong erection.

Stress is another factor that can cause a weak erection. When the body is stressed, the hormone cortisol is being released to the body and when the body is in the stress mode, it is in a fight or flight mode which means that it isn't going to be sending blood or enough to the genital region since it believes that is not what needs blood at the time. Stress and anxiety affects how the brain sends blood to different parts of the body and so at that point, erection is the least of the problem.

Alcohol is also another cause for weak erection. A lot of people in this part of the world I come from have this practice of taking alcohol for sexual intercourse ranging from gin, bitters, vodka, and so on but research has shown that alcohol affects the testosterone level in the body thereby affecting your libido. Also, heavy drinking leads to the impairment of nerve functions which is required to induce strong erection. Low vitamin D level is another reason why you can have low erection as low vitamin D levels can lead to low testosterone. It is important to get vitamin D remember that you can get from the sun just ensure to use sunscreen.

Smoking is another thing that people don't know and a lot of novice do not agree affects their sexual activity including erection. This can even be worse when alcohol is consistently added to the mix. Multiple researches have shown that Tobacco reduces the rate of blood flow to so many part of the body including the heart that pumps the blood. If you think the penis would be spared while the heart suffers low blood flow rate, then think again.

Another reason why you would have low erection is poor sleep. When we sleep, our body tissues repair themselves and lack of sleep usually lead to an increased heart rate. Studies have shown that people with cases of sleep deprivation have weak erectile function and asides from erection, not sleeping can affect the entire wellbeing of a person and can be a factor to conditions such as high blood pressure, and heart attack, so it is important to sleep at least 7 to 9 hours daily for a healthy body.

Recreational drug is another problem associated with weak erection. A lot of medications have side effect on erection including medications used to treat hypertension but in all recreational drugs are the worse when it comes to our sexual health. Drugs such as antidepressants can also lead to weak erection, so when a person is taking antidepressants or hypertension drugs and notice these changes, it is advisable to speak to your doctor so he can tell you what to do. Stopping it is a wrong

On a final note, one thing hat can also affect the erection is lack of physical activities. We live in a world where for the majority of our lives we are not moving. It is important to know that you know that those little exercises that you do increase blood flow as it boost the activity of the heart. Also, eating unhealthily is a road down to the firing squad of your health including that your sex life. It is important to eat healthy, and eat well.
