Digital means of conversation to face-to-face
Technology has truly overshadowed most traditional ways of living since the days of our forefathers. This writing prompt made me think deeply and imagine how communication was in their time. They would travel far and near just to have an important talk with friends and family. Even sending letters was not common in those days. Back then, there was nothing like having a family meeting via a group call, whether a voice call or a video call through a social media app. There was nothing like direct messaging and receiving instant responses. Ohhh! What an era we are in.

For me, I am part of this technology era, and there is no way I would choose face-to-face communication over digital means. Without mincing words, there is more bond and love in face-to-face conversations, especially when talking with a loved one, but this does not take away from the ease and convenience of digital communication, whether through chatting, voice calls, or video calls.
I am more of a digital type. At my current stage of life, I am only seen at my workplace, where I get to communicate or chit-chat with friends face-to-face. Apart from this, I do not engage in face-to-face communication often, except maybe when I feel like unwinding outside my room in the compound, where I join my neighbors in little conversations. Aside from this, I am always on my phone, if I am not chatting with someone, I am making a call, either a video call, a real phone call, or a voice call via social media. The fact that I do not often engage in face-to-face conversations does not mean my life is dull or lacks connection with people. No, I have people, and I am always communicating with them.
These days, even when communicating with my parents, no matter how serious the conversation is, there is no way they will call me home just to talk. We will first discuss it over the phone, and if the situation requires me to travel home, I will do so. I mean, there is no way I can travel home just to have a conversation with my parents. I live far from them, and spending less than $1 on airtime is far more reasonable than using $10 to travel home just for a face-to-face discussion.
Technology has truly made life easier for us. In situations where someone wants to feel a closer bond, similar to a face-to-face conversation, video calls come in handy, and they work excellently.
Thank You!
This era is just very different and that’s all thanks to technology. Imagine having to go to your parents every time you need to talk to them.
