How old is the Metaverse?

OK, I’m not a scientist trying to figure out how old the universe is.

But the Metaverse seems to be the new buzzword.

So, how old is the Metaverse?

Believe it or not, the Metaverse may be older than what most people would think.

Perhaps, some or many of us may have been living in it for some time now, without even knowing.

As a term, I found out that it was first used in 1992.

The Metaverse is 30 years old already!

Wow!

Many groundbreaking things happened back in 1992, and a lot more, incredible things have happened since then.

I can remember myself as a university student in Glasgow, UK, in 1993-1994.

It was then that I started making myself familiar with the new thing: the Internet.

Until then, I could only exchange email (another groundbreaking thing that we take for granted today) messages as a student with other students within the same department, provided that we knew each other’s address, which had been allocated to us by uni.

When I was first connected to the Internet, it felt amazing.

I had never seen such a thing before; it was mind-blowing.

All of a sudden, you could get connected with anyone who was also connected to the Internet and have access to information anywhere in the world on real time.

The possibilities to have access to information and communication seemed to be unlimited, and this proved to be true over time, as all of us know today.

So, we may be living and growing in the Metaverse for some time now, without even realizing it.
