Back in the factory on this fine Friday getting some more work done for the homestead farm. Finally feel like I am starting to make some progress here! I have been working on printing this massive hydroponics unit the whole week at this point, but it has been an amazing learning experience, that is for sure.

I have been figuring out calibration settings trying to fine tune the printers. Being that I am working with PETG, which is a harder, denser plastic than say PLA, which is the most famous type of filament, I can't print at as fast of speeds as I would like to. The filament I am using is supposed to be 'rapid PETG' but when I tried to print at fast speeds to speed up production time on this unit, I found out the hard way that faster is not always better. I printed some of the units at a high rate, and well, the quality took a major hit. Some things are still usable, but I lost some of the jiffy pots that I had printed up, a whole bed worth actually... Yes, it's a waste of plastic, but is it really a waste when you are learning? I don't think so, it's just part of the tuition you have to pay when you are learning a new skill or trade. So now, I have found a nice happy medium between speed and quality, so here's to hoping the rest of it comes out nicely!

While I was working on cleaning up the workshop, because my parents are probably some of the most scattered, messy artists I have ever seen, I ended up finding a dremel tool and full accessory kit, so that is one less thing I have to purchase! I am able to run it on my battery pack, so I can use some renewable energy in my clean up and finishing process! Isn't self-reliance cool or what?

Anyway, the factory is just working away, so now I can go and do some Friday housework to get ready and have a nice chill weekend! I still need to build a gate for my chicken pen, which I am getting my first hens this weekend when my uncle comes back in town. Super pumped for some home grown eggs! These hens are already laying, so I don't have to wait!

Hope you all have a great weekend! Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide my dudes!

Awesome! Almost traveled with some people with a portable 3D printing business. Didn't happen then. So maybe someday I'll get to play a bunch with 3D printing. !BBH

You can definitely fall down a pretty deep rabbit hole, lol. I am trying to keep focused on the task at hand and print up what I need for the farm and focus on what I am going to be printing to sell for the business. You can easily get caught up in printing a bunch of nik-naks pretty quick, lol.

That sounds about right. A toy to make toys! (if you will) Making useful stuff is rewarding though. Best with that. :) !BBH
