Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...
If you know me then you know I love to take my inspiration from somewhere.
Well this week is no different!
Yesterday I stumbled upon a British comedy on Netflix. It is the sort that grows on you!
It was Fat Friends and the intro song on the first series was a cracker and where we take our inspiration from today!
It is dreich ... as we say in Scotland!
Not only is it cold and raining but it's blowing a hooley! (As in it was fluffing windy!)
A bit like the crypto market which has gone south!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

I had forgotten about The Beautiful South until I heard this on the TV last night.
A shame as they are a great band.
So we shall kick off this week's ttt 149 with The Beautiful South.
It is from the Quench album released in 1998 and featured Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) from the Housemartins as a consultant!
It is a song that celebrates the diversity of body shapes and sizes, and challenges the conventional standards of beauty and attraction. The song uses clothing sizes and penis length as metaphors for the different preferences and expectations that people have in romantic relationships.
The song also expresses the idea that love is not based on physical appearance alone, but on personal connection and compatibility. The song’s chorus states: “We love our love, in different sizes / I love her body, especially the lines / Time takes its toll, but not on the eyes / Promise me this, take me tonight.”
The Beautiful South - Old Red Eyes Is Back
The Beautiful South were a beloved British pop-rock band that formed in 1988 and disbanded in 2007. They came from Hull, which was famous in England for Hull Kingston Rovers who played rugby league and were bigger than the local football team Hull City.
The song is a dark and humorous portrayal of a man named ‘Old Red’, who is clearly suffering from alcoholism and its consequences. The verses describe his drinking habits and how they affect his health, appearance, and relationships.
The chorus reveals his regrets and the things he has sacrificed for his addiction: “all the things I could have done instead”. The song ends with the announcement of his death: “Old Red, he died”.
The song title is a play on that of Frank Sinatra’s 1973 album Ol’ Blue Eyes Is Back.

We finish up this fun edition of ttt with the song A Little Time!
Quite possibly is their bet know song and the ballad reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1990 and won the Brit Award for British Video of the Year in 1991.
I know I sing along to both vocalists!

The beautiful south commanded the airwaves back then! I was never a huge fan but listening to them brings back a lot of memories!
I prefer them now I think to then. Getting old me thinks 🤣

Oooh, I love finding new bands, especially from this time period. Some of that stuff they had across the pond that never made it to America was pure gold.
Yeah I hadn't thought of them in years until I saw that TV show, but yeah I like finding new bands likethat too, the world is still a big place.
Sadly I could only get the second one to play, regional copy right excuses... I hadn't heard them before, but they are awesome. Old Red Eyes Is Back was a fun song! I'll have to try and find the others on youtube here in the US!
