Mono Monday at Fort phoenix

Mono Monday at Fort phoenix

Good morning another week begins, and as is my habit I am starting the week with some mono images, of recent i have been sharing random shots from the walks over the past week, but today I am sharing shots all from one walk I took which happened to be at Fort Phoenix Park in Fairhaven early one morning
I went there hoping for a nice sunrise and to get a good walk in, I got the walk in but not so much nice sunrise colors, but i did get some shots that I thought worked well for a mono post

Now I am not a warmonger, I was in the NZ army for 12 years, but then worked in peacekeeping for 30 so more of a peace person than a warmonger.

but that said I do find I cannot resist taking shots of the cannons in the fort, so starting this post with this shot.

I have small medical procedure this morning so wish me luck and understand if I get a bit behind in replying to comments

Fort phoenix is one of the smallest State Reservations but that said it has a lot to see and is a great spot for me getting my steps in

Fort Phoenix is a former American Revolutionary War-era fort located at the entrance to the Fairhaven-New Bedford harbor, south of U.S. 6 in Fort Phoenix Park in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The fort was originally built in 1775 without a name, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. Just off the fort, in Buzzards Bay, was the first naval engagement of the American Revolution, the Battle off Fairhaven on 14 May 1775.

On 5–6 September 1778, the fort was destroyed by the British when they raided the harbor. A force under Major Israel Fearing drove off the British, both at the fort and when they attempted an attack on the town the next day. The fort was then renamed Fort Fearing. In 1784 it was given the name "Fort Phoenix" after the mythical bird that rose from its own ashes

I think these two cannons are my favorite ones in this spot

OK enough of cannons, here I was walking out onto the hurricane Barrier wall, which heads across the water to meet the one coming from the New Bedford side

How are you dear friend @tattoodjay Happy start to the week
I think that early walks are the best, you can see the sun rise and with it its golden colors, although on this occasion you have not found it, you have found these beautiful shots. All the images are really beautiful, but the last one is the one that caught my attention the most.
I hope everything went well in your medical consultation.
Have a wonderful day

Thanks so much
the procedure itself went well back home now, but results not quite what I was hoping for I have an appointment with the Dr in three weeks to see what the next step is

I am very sorry that the results were not what I expected, dear friend. Surely in three weeks the professional will have a new plan that suits you.

I have to go in on Wednesday to complete a survey and do a genetic test, but my brother did one recently and I expect the same results, basically I am prone to getting lots of growths in my colon and at high risk of cancer so surgery is most likely the option he will go for

Let's cross our fingers for the results, and yes, you should choose what is best for the sake of your health, dear friend.

Yes indeed, the Dr seemed to think Surgery is the next step but I will worry about that if and when it comes :)

A history and photography lesson in 1! I like to pause when seeing some of those historic war relics too. Imagine them in service and thundering over those who would find conquest on our shores. So many of them were put in place and never used over here but the ones in Europe seem to fascinate me.

Good luck on your procedure man. We will keep the lights on til your triumphant return.

Good luck with your procedure. Hope it goes well and your recovery is quick and complete 👍 Love those cannons. Especially the 3rd shot. The cannon carriage really pops in black and white. And you're no warmonger for taking good pics 🙂
