Mono Monday a few random shots

Mono Monday a few recent shots

Good Morning
another week is starting, the weekends fly by so fast don't they, even though i am retired and sometimes loose track of what day of the week it is the weekends still seem to fly by.

as is my habit on Mondays I am sharing a few shots in Mono, this week there all photos I took on walks in the previous week or two, ( well as I right this post that is)

Starting with this shot looking up one of the Belgian Block streets here in New Bedford

NOw I know these are Belgian blocks, and hence called them that above, but I still think og them as cobblestones

Belgian Block and cobblestone are not the same, in case you were curious.
The word cobblestone comes from the blending of two words, cob and stone and originally referred to a rounded rock taken from rivers and used for street paving centuries ago. (Read COBBLESTONE TRIVIA for more historical detail.) Belgian Block has little or no affiliation with Belgium. It is a generic term from hundreds of years ago, given to the huge pieces of stone used for ballast on empty sailing ships, many sailing between the Netherlands/Belgium/Flanders and ports in America.

Cobblestone evolved from river rock, to painstakingly hand ‘trimmed’ and shaped rectangles and squares that have been used all over Europe – dating back to Roman times. Monarch Stone International reclaims and imports these beautiful authentic cobbles, the largest and most diverse antique collection you’ll find in the nation

I've never heard of Belgian Block before. Learn something new everyday for sure. The pond just seems very inviting as a place to contemplate.
