Convergence Is Going To Change The World

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Technology is enhanced by convergence. We are in an era where we see some very powerful technology advancing. This will be compounded when they start to converge.

In this video I discuss how this will change the world. Society is not prepared for what is going to happen.

It is also the essence of Web 3.0 in my view.

I guess one of the convergences I am excited about will be between AI and robotics. Not only will this lead to more advancements, but it can solve a lot of problems we are facing. If it can replace humans working in dangerous places, or in jobs that require 24/7 work, that would be great.

Summary:

The host discusses how the convergence of various technologies, such as blockchain, crypto, robotics, AI, biotech, renewable energy, and quantum computing, will fundamentally change the world. He argues that this technological convergence, which he refers to as "Web 3.0," is the driving force behind this transformation.

The host provides examples of how technological advancements build upon each other, using the smartphone as a prime example of the convergence of different technologies. He also discusses how companies like Apple have been able to excel by continuously innovating and building upon their previous successes.

The host delves into how the advancement in computing and AI is impacting various industries, from energy and materials science to pharmaceuticals and autonomous vehicles. He suggests that these technological convergences will lead to significant societal changes, such as improvements in quality of life, increased longevity, and the elimination of certain diseases.

The host emphasizes that the digital world is inextricably linked to these technological advancements and that the integration of mixed reality devices, such as those being developed by Apple, Meta, and Microsoft, is a clear indication of where the future is headed.

Detailed Article:

Taskmaster4450 begins by discussing how the convergence of various technologies, which he refers to as "Web 3.0," will fundamentally change the world. He explains that this convergence includes blockchain, crypto, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), biotech, renewable energy, and potentially quantum computing.

The host argues that while each of these technologies is powerful on its own, the true transformative potential lies in their combination and integration. He uses the example of the smartphone to illustrate how the convergence of different technologies, such as the internet, computing, and mobile communication, can lead to a revolutionary product that disrupts multiple industries.

Taskmaster4450 then delves into how the advancement in computing and AI is impacting various sectors. He discusses how the increased energy efficiency of semiconductors, particularly Nvidia's GPUs, is feeding back into the energy sector, allowing for more efficient energy networks and the development of better materials for batteries, solar panels, and nuclear technology.

The host also highlights how AI is helping to accelerate the drug discovery process in the pharmaceutical industry, cutting down the time from idea to approval by a couple of years. He references the work of futurist Peter Diamandis and his concept of "demonetization," which is closely tied to the idea of dematerialization and the deflationary impact of technology.

Taskmaster4450 then explores how the integration of technologies, such as the incorporation of large language models (LLMs) and chatbots into autonomous vehicles, can enhance and improve the self-driving capabilities of these vehicles. He emphasizes that the digital realm is deeply intertwined with these technological advancements, and the integration of mixed reality devices by companies like Apple, Meta, and Microsoft is a clear indication of the direction in which the future is headed.

The host then delves into the potential societal changes that may arise from these technological convergences. He discusses how improvements in biotech and the potential for a better quality of life, even if the overall lifespan remains the same, could have a significant impact on society. The host suggests that advancements in areas like eliminating certain diseases or reducing the impact of age-related health issues could lead to more people reaching the age of 80 or 85 without the same level of physical decline.

Taskmaster4450 concludes by reiterating his belief that the digital world is inextricably linked to these technological advancements and that the integration of mixed reality devices is a clear sign of the future direction. He expresses his conviction that Web 3.0, driven by the convergence of these diverse technologies, will be the driving force behind the transformative changes that are to come.
