UNSCHOOLING ROCKS: MULTIPLICATION TABLE - YEAHH, WE'VE DONE IT!✨

A wolf was not so big and fearful like it had been described:))
That's what i can say about the main horror of kids 7-8 years - Multiplication table😊

To tell you the truth, I was afraid of it as well. A little bit;)
But not because I was afraid we would fail in learning it by heart, no, my boy has great memory, and I was sure he would study it well.
But I was afraid he would HATE it.
If studying is boring and long, kids really hate it, and that was my fear.
I really hated this table when I was a kid because my studying was long and boring.

I was said - study it or you won't go for a walk.
And I was studying..... brrr...

So I wanted to avoid this horror again.
I bought cards for learning, I had a nice Soviet book of Maths for it, and I downloaded an app (a game) to practice it while playing.

Actually, I spent much time seeking for different super innovative methods of fast learning. I wanted to find cool rhymes to make it more interesting, but....I liked none of them.

✨So I used cards, a textbook and a phone app.

my old Soviet textbook which I consider to be still the best one!

Pythagorean table made by my son also heled him to remember it faster

And it was enough! My son studied it very fast! I was sure we would spend about 2 months to now it well, but no - only 3-4 weeks passed, and he is realyy good in all examples of multiplication.
So my system worked fine;)

✨We spent about 30 min a day to train it using cards, then a textbook with written examples, and then a game to train it more.

✨And yeah - I used a principle of memory work - repeating is obligatory! At least twice a day for 5 min, it will be enough to refresh memory and make it build new neuron connections faster.

So, we've won this terrible monster called Multiplication table;))
Yeahhhh;))😆✨

Clap clap for your son, Multiplication Table is a nightmare ro me during my school days even when I started high school, lol. Mom taught mr a lot of tricks just to pick it up easily and fast but its just really hard especially for a 7 year old kid. I always receive a whack from a ruler or a stick whenever I make mistake but that too helps me lol.

I liked your way of teaching multiplication tables. Starting tomorrow I start reinforcing these to my eldest daughter again. Thanks for sharing your strategies.

Greetings and blessings.
