MY SON'S HANDMADE BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE
How to remember a lot of info? Of course, to make notes and drawings. If they are added by real mini-examples - that would be just great!
When I proposed my son to watch a scientific video-course for small kids, I didn't suppose we both would be so in love with it.
It touches all main topics of Nature life - animals, plants, mushrooms, bacteria, lichens - that's all for kids of 7-8 years.
We watch small videos 3-8 min each for one topic, the video is made like a short lecture but told with simple and very clear language, especially for kids, with grat examples and cartoon moments.
Info is got very easy from this course, but we've more than 40 videos for the 1st grade. And if 1-5 videos can be remembered without notes, 40 pieces need some background for sure. Not to mix info, not to miss anything important, and just to be able to look at it once again at any time.
I've already shown you this book, but now we've an important period - we've finished 2 main topics Animals + Plants, 2 main nature kingdoms.
And my son has become much better in making his notes, analysing info, choosing the main pieces of it.
And I like that these topics gave us a chance to use real examples of plants for our book.
Look!
we were investigating oil plants and put real flax as an example - we use flax oil every day for our food;)
when we were watching about cotton, we sticked a piece of cotton into our Book
and that's pages devoted to plants that can treat people
thyme, chamomile and calendula are always in my home because I use them for our herbal tea and for treatment if we need it
It's awesome that through watching those short informative videos, your sone can learn a lot from it. This should be the kind of video that we will show to the kids nowadays, and with the great animation they can also be entertain from it, while learning (✯ᴗ✯)
I'd like to have such small interesting but useful videos in my childhood too;)
What a beautiful activity that you are doing with your little one at home of taking real plants and making notes about them in a notebook. I liked it a lot!
Greetings and blessings
I think your son is naturally smart. He's even smarter because of the activities you provided for him. I like this book of knowledge. I know I can use this with my daughter soon. Thanks for sharing this idea.
