GLOBAL LEAK OF PERSONAL DATA

Many people were afraid of it, and it has happened. What can be worse than when you can't feel safety because....ALL your data is stolen.

Another scandal involving a large-scale leak of personal data is breaking out in Russia.
People have discovered several chat bots in our main messenger through which you can get a free dossier on almost any citizen who once left a digital trace behind them. Personal data of both private users and government resource databases were made publicly available.

The hackers also posted personal data and medical test results of deputies, judges and executives of large corporations.
Meanwhile, on September 1, Russian schools began to force parents to register their children on State Services, from which a major data leak had already occurred, and the Government prepared a bill on simplified authentication on the portal for children under the age of 14.

The leader of the public movement “Parents of Moscow” believes that in the current realities the only way to protect children from leaks of personal data and other more serious consequences is to refuse registration on digital portals.

Registration is completely voluntary and does not in any way affect the child’s education, final exams or funding. Any parent can demand that the student’s certification be carried out in paper form, refuse electronic processing and transfer of his personal data to third parties. But very few people do it! I know many parents who complain every day but do nothing!

There is no guarantee that at some point the data on the child’s whereabouts, coupled with his medical data, will not end up in the hands of criminals Hundreds of children disappear without a trace in the country every year. At the same time, during registration, including for children under 14 years of age through a parent’s account, the “My School” portal recommends indicating the child’s personal phone number, which is used to record his location.

Moreover, digitalizers want to collect data on a person almost since the birth - starting this year, kindergartens began to connect to electronic systems.

What do you have in your country towards this question, guys?

"...the only way to protect children from leaks of personal data and other more serious consequences is to refuse registration on digital portals."

That is absolutely the case. In particular, their medical records and biometric identifiable information needs to be kept out of digital records. Digital records can NOT be made secure.

This is why I am adamantly opposed to biometric ID. Once that is compromised, some hacker used biometric ID to do some harm or commit a crime, your body, your physical person, is permanently compromised by that harm or crime being linked to your biometric ID on official records. You cannot change your biometric data, and I doubt you could change your official records linking your data to those crime(s).

Thanks!
