Equipment highlight- EHX Cathedral

Introduction

We love sharing some information about the equipment we use. Today is the turn of our Cathedral Reverb, a now-discontinued guitar effects pedal from Electro-Harmonix.

This baby is permenantly hooked up in one of our FX chains, and we use it all the time. It is one of those hallowed pieces of gear that always makes things sound better. You do need to get in and fiddle with the knobs though, not every preset works for everything, although the "Grail Spring" and "Grail Flerb" are both great places to start. Although we have plenty of great reverbs in our DAW (cubase), we find it is much quicker - and more fun - to stick this bad boy on and turn the knobs until you like what you hear. All those lovely chunky controls invite performance too. Who says reverb has to be static?

Technical Spec

It runs off a standard 9V DC power supply, and has stereo in and out. Simps huh?

Current cost

Seems you can pick it up for about 120 to 150 of your local first world fiat. An absolute bargain.

I gotta give this thing a 9. If it had a MIDI sync in it would be 10, although I've heard there is a mod for that......
