The UK Has Gone Mad Or Is It The Entire World? Coming Out Of Lockdown... Bizarrely

Do you ever feel like you stopped paying close enough attention and whilst you were looking the other way the world went mad?

Wherever you live on this beautiful little blue & green orb, you have suffered some sense of disruption over the last few months. Depending on your government and the apparently expert guidance of 'so-called' professional scientific advisers you may have experience wholesale changes or a fair amount of disruption to your daily life.

Everywhere I go in the England right now, the conversation is the same. Why are certain restrictions being stepped up now when we are being led to believe that the situation has eased significantly?

It is a pretty new development that you must wear a mask on public transport of any form, even though this was not mandatory at the so-called height of the pandemic.

Since Friday it has become mandatory to wear a mask when going in to a shop of any kind. This may not sound so crazy to you depending on where you are from but this was announced over a week ago, so in essence we were told from the 24th you must wear a mask when walking round a store, but it is not mandatory for the next week or so???

One city in the England was placed a while ago into what is known as local lockdown, so all the towns, cities and boroughs that surround it were free to move around unimpeded but Leicester was back in full lockdown although people were travelling from other areas to work there or visit people.

Government advice has regularly flipped 180 degrees from the contradictory to the downright satirical, throughout they have done this with a straight face whilst accepting no modicum of blame or exhibiting any embarrassment.

I know what you may be thinking, I have heard it from leaders all over the globe recently. This has been an unprecedented situation and we did not know exactly how to react to the fluidity of what was happening .

Nope! I do NOT buy that answer and I will tell you why... I have long been interested in pandemics and have followed so much of the data that has been gathered elsewhere and if there's a TED talk or seminar online I guarantee I will have watched it. I have read many a scientific journal piece on the topic and feel like I know some of the microbiologists and epidemiologists who speak on the subject by name.

Awkward questions..jpg

I am aware of a myriad of simulations, tests and exercises that have been conducted to formulate an official response that ensures key agencies are on the same page when it happens after all a pandemic has always been inevitable, whether now or in 20 years.

The official narrative has always been the same, the relevant bodies, agencies and ministers know exactly what the protocol is in the event of such a disaster and can swing in to action almost immediately.

There has apparently long-since been a checklist of who will close down, how it will happen and on what timeline.

This is not even close to what we have witnessed though and many, many people are asking awkward questions about why more measures are being implemented now than at anytime so far. I mentioned that people visiting stores must wear a mask, what I did not say, is the staff who work within do not.

Buses run at less than half capacity, but when people step off them they cram in to workplaces where social distancing is a laughable concept that is absolutely impossible to maintain. Children from some year-groups must attend school whilst others do not... Are some children deemed to be indispensable or have they somehow developed the holy grail that is herd immunity?

Who is really making the calls? I ask this because so often our Prime Minister appears on press conferences and when asked an awkward question, he appears to look off camera for the answers, whilst looking as shifty and uncomfortable as Epstein's PA...

I feel like sometimes all we are really looking for in a situation like this is to know who is steering the car. This should not be too much to ask from our leaders, the people in charge, right?

Thank YOU for taking the time to read my post and if you're one of those amazing people who like to hit the comments section... Then I doubly thank YOU!

Either way I want you to know that you are appreciated!

Keep taking the time to connect with each-other both here and in the so-called real world and try and look after each-other, because as you already know...

I know England, the place you’re speaking about. In fact we’ll be here (in England) three more days as we’re finally reaching our departure date where a 30 day stay turned to a 7 month sentence.
