STEMng Digest: A little is better than none

Authored by @gentleshaid

Good day to all and sundries. Many of us might be thinking we are supposed to be somewhere higher in life. However, one thing that is certain is that we are at a point that is higher than that of millions of other people in the world and many will give a lot to be where we currently are. One would be able to realize this only when they see people that are more qualified than them but in lower positions in life. In other words, we should learn to appreciate little while aspiring for more - in a decent way.

Once you see the usual short epistle, you know it is a new edition of our weekly digest.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. @jsalvage: In Coral Reefs, Natural Medicines that Can Save Your Life Are Discovered.

If you are not a scientist but live close to a coral reef, you will probably have a feel of how important coral reefs are. They represent biodiversity hotspots and offers a whole lot of functions to the earth's ecosystem. In this post, one of the services that coral reefs offer mankind was extensively discussed. Who could have thought that they can be a source of drugs! Definitely not laymen.

2.@cyprianj: Do waist trainers have any real positive effects on weight reduction in women?

We live in a world where those that are seeking profits will go to any length to achieve their objectives, including making people to feel insecure about their bodies. Hence, it will come at no surprise to see people, especially females, trying to lose weight in order to look like the model in adverts. From slimming teas to waist trainers, different varieties of lifestyles are engaged in just to get rid of excessive fat. But how effective are these methods, waist trainers especially? This post talks comprehensively about the subject.

3.@nazom: IN THE SPIRIT OF WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY... TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART AND BLOOD VESSELS

There is no better way to celebrate world's hypertension day by content creators than to put up something on the subject in order to raise more awareness. What exactly is hypertension, what varieties exist, and what are the available drugs to manage the abnormality? Even if you are not hypertensive and know nobody that is, reading the post to get educated might come in handy in the nearest future.

4.@oluwatobiloba: Does Science Defend or Condemn our Forgetful Trait?

Some humans brain pick up information and like magnets, others need continuous iteration before they can absorb a little part of an information. Some are able to retain whatever they pick up for a long time while others can barely remember a few months, weeks, or even days after. The bottomline is, people have different abilities when it comes to picking up information using the brain. Does science has an explanation for this behavior? The author educates us more.

5.@boluman: Artificial Augmentation, The Real Future Of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has been around for a while and keeps waxing stronger everyday. One part of its evolution is artificial augmentation. How far has this technology come and what does the future holds? Some areas where artificial augmentation can be, or have the potential to be applied were discussed.

Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.

If you are a content creator on Hive and wondering how you can participate in the community, all you need to do would to:
