We are living in an era, where everything is technologicaly dependent. If we look around, we find ourself surrounded by so many technological devices and gadgets. These allow us to live and eases our lifestyl in smoother way. The tremendous growth in technological advancement in recent times has two sides. While one sides shows the boon it provided to the mankind, on the other hand it exposes every Individual to cyber world, where attacks and loots were very common. We are vulnerable for any kind of data breach and attack at point of time. Hissing, scamming are quite common and a little distraction may end up loosing everything. Even our persinal identity are were at risk of being exposed.

Recently, #wazirx one of the major crypto currency exchange in India has experinced a cyber attacks. It results in the theft of digital assets exceeding $230 million. This is not the first time that an exchange is being targeted, there were many similar instances where many exchanges were attacked and attackers sweft away with everything. This lead is to belive that not only exchanges but even an individual were at risk of cyber attacks. We are vulnerable for phishing links, scamming messages email and many other mode of attacks. The attackers were much smarter in the technology field to fool us. We cannot always rely on. Cyber security, u less and untill we remain alerts and vigilant of our own. In case you want to check how much these attackers were active, simply reach to "X" and try to search out on customer care of any crypto app. You will see, how soon you will be entertained with many accounts. Remember, trust wallet does not have any customer services.

Getting into cyber trap

After listening to various news and cyber attacks cases, I usually try to avoid all links and messages. Still, I get into trap. I have my personal experince of one such cyber attack where I lost approximately USD 700 to a fake telegram group.

I was new to crypto world as well as to the telegram grouop. Completelly, unaware if the modus operandi of cyber attackers. I was laid down by crypto group in making some transaction. It was not the original group, and I fell prey to them. They promissed me to double my hodling, I made a transaction through "trust wallet" and eventually ended up losing all my USDT stored. Within a second of the transaction they sniff off my entire usdt balance from my account.

It was unexpected turn of events, which took good amount of time to recover. Loosing 700USD uncessarilly , was not a joke. But it was one of the hard lesson learned on crypto sphere. But it does give some good learning :

  • Never trust anyone on crypto space.
  • Make sure of the authentic groups active to operate. Always join them through their official link.
  • always ensure a strong password.
  • never to click on links message etc. Nothing is free in this world.
  • alwsys ensure to use secure internet services.
  • alwsys keep the system and virus protection upto date.
  • always think twice before sharing anything over the internet.

The more alert we remain the more the chances we remain safe. We should learn from the fact that when the digital platform are not safe from the attackers, then how an individual cam keep themselves safe. WazirX’s recent security breach that led to assets worth $230 million getting stolen has already started having a ripple effect on other Indian crypto platforms as well many crypto investors. But rather then panicking, we must ensure safety from the cyber attacker by regulating ourself.

Peace !!

Attack on exchange is not cool a bit, especially, when assets are loss to the hands of the attackers, absolutely, through technology, we are exposed to attacks.

What you have stated is all true, cyber attacks are crazy and almost impossible to avoid if one doesn't study about them or hire a professional to handle them. I do hope as investors we get to study cyber security to a degree to handle personal things and get comfortable hiring professionals as well. Thanks for sharing.

I've seen quite a few big entities get hammered in the last month alone. It is only going to get worse I think. They wouldn't keep doing it if there wasn't big money to be gained from it!
