Buying a Smartphone is a Headache - Technology making life a mess.

I have been planning to buy a smartphone off late. But every time I search over the best smartphone on internet, I ended up confused. Smartphone has been an integral part of life, and owning a handy device will surely help us in solving multiple purpose. From making a contact, to remain active on social media, to watching online videos, or listening to music or attending online classes and many such things which simply makes our life simpler and affordable.

Lately, there are so many devices introduced into the market, each of them promises multiple features assure a good service and better than others. Gone are the day, when we have limited option to choose in the market. Pick up our ever-relied brands like Samsung and Nokia are most preferable.

Now we have so many brands, competing with each other. Earlier picking a smartphone was very easy. But now people looking out for the different features and design on the mobile gadgets. Actually, over the time, smartphone has become a style statement for an individual. As I was planning to buy, and did some research where I get to know that time has changed and many new things have come up, that people look out before buying a device. Here are some of the additional things that I never knew before:

  • ***Processor:**** The life line of device. From Snapdragon to MediaTek Dimensity. Each of them promises a faster processor. However, MediaTek has an edge over Snapdragon. I observe people relying more on latest Dimensity processor over the older Snapdragon 695 which lags sometimes.

  • Battery: Nobody wants to keep their device on charging mode. They want to have longer battery life so that to keep away from unwanted tension of draining out the battery. Now most of the devices are supporting 5000 Mah to 6000Mah assuring a day or two battery backup. This is very handy as over usage of smartphone results in less battery life.

  • Device Weight: Keeping a device handy is always good. A heavy phone always adds up some extra weight to the hand or pocket and doesn’t feel good. Now a days many devices having 200gm of weights or more. This will add an extra burden on us while carrying them. I prefer to have something lessor than 180gms or lessor. But those phones are lot costlier.

  • Size of Device: Does size matters? in my case, it does! I love to carry a phone that easily fits in my hand and can be easily operated with one hand. Also, it should easily fit in my pocket. The company are now manufacturing devices with bigger screen to woo customer with better video viewing experience. Most of the device have more than 6.5 inch of size which is not at all handy in carrying. Anything lessor will surely makes life easier. My last phone has 6.3inch in size was very comfortable in carrying.

  • Camera feature (OIS / TelePhoto): These are some of the new norms introduced in the mobile. Earlier people used to focus on the Camera pixels size 50mp or 32mp camera. But now we have some added features to camera. OIS - Optical Image Stabilization. allow a stable photo. Camera movement doesn’t spoil the picture quality. Similarly, “Telephoto” features which allow to get a narrow look to the faraway objects. Both of these features adding extra cost to device.

  • Bezel and Chin: Look also matters while buying a device. Many people look out for the bezel sizeon the front screen. It is generally the space surrounding the screen. The wider it is people loves it more. “Chin” on the other hand is the bottom part of the mobile device. It is a ribbon that connects the display to the device board. These adds looks to the front screen and makes it look far better with wider screen coverage.

  • Punch hole / Water drop Notch: These are the specific related to front selfie camera. Situated on top of the front screen. ’Punch hole’ looks like a tiny hole in the display area, while the “water drop notch” looks like a tiny inward bump on the display area. This feature made me more confused, as I hardly notice any major difference in both the two. Still have their own preference

  • Finger sensor, Side mounted or On screen:. People have different preferences and everyone like to have sensor as per their comfortability. The finger sensor features started with onscreen option but now it moved on the side mounted area. Still people want them to have on the screen. They are finding it difficult to adjust.

So many features, so many complexities! The more features you want, the more bigger hole need to make in your pocket. No one is perfect, still people want to have a perfect phone with them. They forget what the basic requirement of a mobile device. What used to make contacts with somebody have transformed into a vast and bigger usage. Every day, new changes come into the market, and these brands incorporates them in their device and introduced to the customers.

My requirement is simpler, I am happy to own a normal phone but with digital advancement I needed a phone that fulfil my basic and daily requirement, like making online payments, accessing banks, video streaming, surfing. And I am yet to find one in my budget. Will let you know once I will find one as per my need. how do you buy a phone? do you also feel miserable and helpless while buying a mobile?

Peace!!

Hello

I really enjoyed your post.

I mainly look for a comfortable one-handed operation, an acceptable battery life, a sufficient capacity for applications.

Nowadays with data clouds I don't look at the storage capacity of the device.

And that it has a camera that has a good resolution or several as I like photography.

I hope you find something that suits your tastes.

Best regards.
