He seems to be a human being, the plant species I don´t know.
But the plant alone would be doomed to die, there are more beings there, like fungi & bacteria who eat the rotten leaves and convert them back to water, minerals and CO2 from which the plant feeds then again.

I was asking about the plants :) Most of them would die within weeks, or months at best, sealed like this. With no water, CO2, nutrients... It's truly astonishing.

The water is there! It is not lost, but re-used over and over!
Like in fact the water on Earth, just in a smaller scale. We on Earth are as well in a closed system and the water is re-used as well :)

I know, that's obvious. Seal any plants you have at home in a large jar and see for yourself what happens in that microsystem, though ;)
