Repair of voltage protector [Eng+Spa]

Greetings, wishing and hoping that you are the best you can be. And in the event that it is not that way, in case you have any difficulties: I wish you good spirits and ingenuity, so that you can overcome the situation in which life has placed you.

This time I am sharing a small repair that was not in my plans, since I had to repair the surge protector in the kitchen.

These days in my country, surge protectors have become essential, we have many failures in the electricity service in the area. Without an electrical protector in good condition, the useful life of the equipment is greatly reduced, and the cost in money to buy another takes me a lot out of balance with my budget.

I found the stove protector out of order one morning and when I remove it from the electrical connector on the wall to check it, I realize that the wall outlet was also damaged.

This damage is usually caused by excessive consumption, it can also occur when there is no firm connection or simply due to wear and tear over time.

When we have a wall outlet in this state, we have to change it or not use it until it is replaced, since excess heat is produced, damaging the electrical equipment or it can end up causing a fire.

Actually, as it looked without having disassembled it, I thought that I would end up recycling the components to repair another protector.

When disassembling I was able to verify that it was in very good condition, that there was no damage to the electronic board as I had imagined, nor were there any components that needed to be changed.

Simply, the soldering of one of the input terminals had fractured, it is a fault that I find in a multitude of equipment (light bulbs, televisions, sound equipment) in which one or more solders of the electronic board fracture and end up make a bad contact or stop having contact with the tracks of the circuit. So all the components measure well, but the equipment fails.

I wanted to place another terminal, to replace the one that had come off, and so I took a cable that I recycled a long time ago, which had also lost a terminal.

It didn't do me much good, I noticed that the length was much less than the length of the original terminal of the electrical protector, so I cleaned the connector that had come off, then sanded it with water sandpaper until all the dirt was removed.

I had to use a desoldering iron (30W), to make sure I got the terminal hot enough to solder it properly.

I tested that the protector circuit worked correctly.

Before reassembling it into its case, check that the electrical outlet connection is secure. As I mentioned before, if one of the connections is not firm, it will overheat and damage the protector or the equipment that is connected to the electricity outlet.

Now without further repair, I assembled the electronic card with the casing and reassembled in its place in the kitchen, only to realize that I have to reassemble the electrical outlet (when I change the wall outlet, I put it in an inverted way). But that will be left for tomorrow morning, I have to cut the power supply and that is something that is better to do in the morning.

Thank you very much for stopping by and reading.
Have an excellent week.
Peace.

The connector in the wall looks very dangerous. Good that you can repair it yourself.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.
When an electrical wall connector becomes so deteriorated, it is better to change it, even if it is not being used.
