(Edited)

Greetings to my favorite science community online, StemSocial.

We're in the month of October, and as you may already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a period where we take time and acknowledge the fact that many women still suffer from the devasting effect of Breast Cancer.

Through a lot of medical researches like the famous "Conor's Cure" and others, scientists and doctors work tirelessly in search for a solution or cure to all types of cancer including Breast Cancer.

The purpose of today's blog is to contribute in raising awareness for Breast Cancer patients and to embrace hope and some solutions to Breast cancer from medical science.

Before I begin, if you have any contribution of knowledge to this blog topic, I'll very much appreciate it.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A time to remember that pink is more than a color, it's a symbol of hope and progress in our fight against breasts cancer.

Breast cancer has led to the unfortunate demise of many women in the past and even now. It is so devasting that the world thought it necessary to dedicate a whole month to raise awareness of the negative impact of this disease.

However it's not just about raising awareness but also about finding a solution, a treatment or perhaps a cure to breast cancer and hopefully all other types of cancers.

There's no doubt that, medical science holds the key to an ultimate cure. Chemotherapy is good but it's not certain and comes with a lot of seriously damaging side effects.

We're still in search for better solutions though.

I have put together in this blog post, a few methods or paths that medical science is takomg that I believe has the potential to lead to an effective cure or treatment to Breast Cancer.

Let's briefly discuss these medical science solutions that could make a real difference in the lives of women dealing with breast cancer.

Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology I believe might be the perfect solution to deal with breast cancer and even all types of cancer.

Due to their very tiny nature, doctors can infuse these Nanbots into the blood stream of a breast cancer patient, remotely control the programmed nanobots to locate the cancerous cells and destroy them without destroying the good and healthy cells.

This is basically the biggest limitation to Chemotherapy, trying to decipher between good cells and Cancer cells in the body.

During chemotherapy, both the cancer cells and some of the good cells gets destroyed in the process causing a lot of damaging side effects and even sometimes leading to the death of the patient.

This is what makes nanotechnology in my honest opinion one of the best solutions to curing cancer.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy may seem like a complex concept but it's just a fancy way of saying we're getting our own immune system to take down the cancerous cells.

It's mainly about giving the patients some specific immune boosting medication that helps the immune system fight against or destroy the cancerous cells.

Let's take another scenario to further explain this concept.

Susan also a woman faced with breasts cancer, was in a clinical trial for this new thing treatment immunotherapy.

After going through regular treatments and not seeing positive results or recovery, this approach boosted her immune system.

For the movie fanatics, it was like her immune system turned into Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, and the cancer cells became paper targets at the shooting range.

Susan becomes cancer-free because of this treatment and gets to live a healthier and better again.

Liquid Biopsies

Liquid biopsies are basically blood tests that help the doctors check for signs of breast cancer or any other cancer without the drama, pain and intensity of a regular biopsy.

Let's consider a scenario where a woman called Emily starts to feel a lump in her breast, and she obviously gets concerned about it. She makes her way to the hospital for a checkup

Now instead of the usual biopsy, she gets a blood test, a liquid biopsy. With this method, there's no more painful needles which would make her very uncomfortable.

With blood test, doctors can spot the breast cancer markers, and Emily's diagnosis can be a whole lot less stressful.

3D Printing

Now imagine if we can have breast reconstruction procedures after a breast cancer surgery. Sometimes with breast cancer treatment procedures, it would be required the the entire breast gets cut off to preserve the life of the patient.

The Women have to live the rest of their lives without their breasts. Although it might have sounded like a necessary evil to preserve her life, imagine the chance to have her breast reconstructed again.

The women that lose their breasts during a breast cancer treatment procedure can get 3D printed breast implants. It would look very natural and no different from the regular breast or implants.

AI and Machine Learning

Artificial Intellectual and machine learning is really helping doctors find cancer earlier or quicker, figure out which treatments are best, and even discover new drugs to help combat the disease.

Let's consider a scenario of a woman called Sarah.

Sarah has a family history of breast cancer, and that makes her anxiety and fear go up.

Doctors can use an AI program for early detection.

What they would do is to go through all of Sarah's family's health history and her own information.

The Artificial Intelligence program would then give a heads-up to the doctos if it finds something suspicious.

Thanks to AI, Sarah can get her treatment earlier if there's a sign of breast cancer. All of this will increase her chances of overcoming breasts cancer or even stopping it before it gets out of hand.

Gene Editing:

Gene editing, although may seem super advanced for our time, could also be a great solution to breast cancer. It's basically about rewriting the instruction manual for your body.

What doctors intend to do with Gene editing is to fix the genes connected to breast cancer. It's almost like hitting the "undo" button on a genetic error.

Let's take a scenario to explain how Gene editing could become a great solution.

A woman called Emma has a really tricky genetic mutation that increases her chances of getting breast cancer.

She joins a gene editing experiment where Scientists like the genetic mechanics, fix her mutation problem and lowers her risk of getting breats cancer. This is almost similar to getting an actual vaccine that would prevent breast cancer.

Imagine how much positive impact this would make in the lives of many women out there.

With this procedure, Emma gets to live her life without the fear of the possibility of Breast cancer

Preventive Vaccines

Imagine having a vaccine that stops certain types of breast cancers even before they attempt to show up. That's also another method doctors and scientists are currently working on.

This could work especially for cancers connected to viruses like HPV.

Imagine a scenario where in a neighborhood clinic, young women lined up for a vaccine. The vaccine would be more like a shield against a type of HPV that could lead to breast cancer in women.

They would definitely leave the clinic now feeling safer, knowing they took shots, reducing their risk of breast cancer. This would be a total game changer im our fight against the diesease.

Focused Ultrasound

Focused ultrasound is more like a super-focused speaker but for your body. It uses sound waves to target and take down breast tumors. The best part is how gentle it is with the procedure.

How would this work you might ask?

Let's just say a woman called Linda has a tiny breast tumor, but she doesn't want a surgery.

Instead, she goes for the focused ultrasound treatment. It's similar to what happens in the Spa.

The treatment is quick and easy, and it also didn't mess up her daily routine. This is the level of advancement that we are approaching when it comes to our fight against breast cancer.

Personalized Medicine

Personalized medicine is really all about treatments that are tailored to each person's unique genetic makeup and also the specific type of breast cancer they're faced with.

I recall sharing a much broader post on personalized medicine in this very community discussing its potential to solve intense medical issues. Breast Cancer is no exemption from the medical issues Personalized medicine can tackle

This is basically "a treatment just for you."

Now let's consider a scenario with a woman called Jane.

When the doctor said she had breast cancer, she thought her world was coming to an end. But then they used personalized medicine. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach to treating cancer.

They did deep research into Jane's genes and her exact type of cancer.

The result was a treatment plan that fit her perfectly like a glove. There's is a lot of limitations to general treatments and medication, however, where general medicine stops, personalized medicine continues to thrive.

People or in this case Women, have different genetic make-up and a drug that may seem effective for one Woman may not work that effectively for another. This is mainly why there's the need for personalized medicine.

Jane would also have fewer side effects, overcome her breast Cancer condition and live life like a boss.

To draw the curtains on today's blog, science is really lighting up the path for women in the battle against breast cancer.

From early detection that will not hurt to treatments that are tailored to each person and nanotechnology based solutions, I believe things will get better for the women as we make great progress in medical research.

These medical researches is how science is bringing hope to these women. As we observe the breasts cancer awareness month, I @skyehi would like to encourage all women to hang in there, be strong and be filled with hope as we make great strides together in our fight against breast cancer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read today's blog. I hope you found it both insightful and inspiring to read. As I mentioned earlier, this blog is open for any contribution of knowledge you may have regarding the blog topic.

Together let's raise more awareness for Breast cancer patients and help in anyway we can to fight the disease.

Have a lovely day and catch you next time on StemSocial. Goodbye 👨‍🔬
