This is indeed a Browser Extension Era, every browser on a desktop computer comes with preinstalled extensions. Many users don't care about these extension and don't know about how they work.

But even though there are so many loopholes in those extension, it is quite hard to give them an exception. If we take an example of crypto storage, these extensions just keep piling up in a browser for investors, but if by chance someone install a fake extension, he might be at risk of being hacked of funds or data.

It is good to learn from your video regarding safety of data and how to check extension permissions.
