The speed with which technology and science evolves is truly incredible, how every day they surprise us with new things and are felt at all times and this really impresses me, after all, as a lover of technology and everything it provides, I hope always great news over the years. Of course, not everything is rosy and at times it also scares us negatively, with changes in our lives that can really have effects that are beyond control and understanding.

Among these processes, I think the situation that impressed me most in which I was able to say, damn, science has gone too far, would be in the case of cloning Dolly the sheep, after all, cloning a living being, even if it is not a human, is something that makes me think a lot, about how at certain moments humanity seems to play God, creating one being like another, as if we could control the ideas of birth, life and death, that impressed me, but I'm thinking about how this can be used for the future.

Could it be that, just like Star Wars, in the future we will have wars fought by countless clones? Where are the ethics and rights of these individuals? Would they be created just for purposes of this kind? Raised to just hold a gun and go to war, die for something that considers them some kind of disposable trash? This is just one of the ideas I think of, another point of view could be that if mass cloning of humans happens, would they be treated with discrimination? Would they be considered a type of slave because they were clones? Wow, we have a lot to think about and discuss in this line of reasoning that we could spend hours thinking and talking about.

It's something very interesting, isn't it? Will cloning reach that level? It's something to think about, ethics and everything. Now at the other extreme, we can consider that science and technology need to evolve further in terms of treating diseases that are a terror to humanity, such as AIDS and cancer, despite there being a lot of progress in this field, I feel that health continues to lag behind. in this regard, then it is not yet felt to be a great ally to help humans heal from these illnesses.

What I mean, and compare is, for example, is technology applied to weapons and other things like Artificial Intelligence really necessary now? State-of-the-art weapons seem to do it all, but what about health? She seems to be behind this technology used for death and destruction, you know what I mean? I can't say if each country invests more in weapons than in health, but, let's take COVID as an example, how it threw us all, bringing so much sadness and death, where was the health and technology to protect us? or speed up the vaccine creation process?

Could it be that if there really was a heavy investment or if we gave the necessary focus, these diseases and viruses that appear and problems that have dragged on for years in our society could be resolved? I think so, but, unfortunately, governments seem to think first about creating new technologies that generate profits or that kill people faster, rather than really focusing on what we need, which is the health and well-being of people on the blue planet.

Onde fica a ética e direitos desses indivíduos?

Cloning is a complex issue, and touches on ethical and moral issues such as those you mention. In addition, there are different opinions as to whether the copy can really have the identity, rights and responsibilities of the original. Regards @shiftrox

I'm sure it would be a great debate for everyone, what could be legal or not, the rights and duties of a clone, how would society react to all of this? These are great questions, aren't they?

We have a long way to go until then, I believe we need to really open our minds to this moment!

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, I know many people resort to the "natural state of things" to disagree with many research projects and science applications, when in reality it entails a double standard. To them It's ok to stop the natural course of cancer, but it's not ok to clone a sheep. The argument from profanity is not relevant, but the one about the ethical implications about having a party of clones is interesting. This debate about ethics is endless.

It's a pretty cool thing to think about, isn't it? The moral and ethical issues of mass cloning of humans are very interesting. Would they have rights to documents? Passport? Families? Labor rights? Or would we just treat them as soldiers, cloned pieces of meat ready for combat?

It's a good subject for creating speeches and theories.

Could it be that if there really was a heavy investment or if we gave the necessary focus, these diseases and viruses that appear and problems that have dragged on for years in our society could be resolved?

I believe so, because we have made significant progress in those areas but funding is usually a problem because more money goes into less important aspects of our lives allowing suffering to continue. If more effort were to be put into healthcare, we would definitely achieve greater milestones.

I think exactly this, that if there was a focus and a large investment in the area of health and technology to evolve our public and private health and the search for cures in different health fields, we could certainly have more advanced things in this regard. I didn't do any research, but I believe that our governments spend more on the search for more sophisticated weapons or other meaningless things than investing in the health area.

Cloning is going to be unavoidable. Soon organs well be grown to replace our own as they fail, at one time people feared a clone would be grown to harvest the organs alone buy we're beyond that now. Eventually people will start cloning humans for one purpose or another, though I think it's long time off. It turns out humans are more difficult to clone than sheep.

AI will speed up the understanding of the entire human genome, and will likely play a part in the first human clone. It would be better used to combat disease, and I hope that's what really happens. But we live in a messed up world, so you never know!

I have no doubt that this time will come, of clones and organ cultivation, this was something I hadn't even thought about, have you ever wondered if the clones will only have the objective of being created so that their organs can be used in their original carrier? Damn, this is sinister, they will really become just bare flesh, this is very dark, but let's see what it will be like from now on!
