Henry Ford wasn't an exemplary individual either. People still buy Fords. And then there's Volkswagen.

Tesla is the new Prius virtue signal of the early 2000s.. Ownership is more about self-identity than actually doing good for the environment.

I own a Prius purely for economic reasons. A market dump of Teslas might lower the price enough that it would make sense to buy ones for short, around town driving.
