Even in calm distress you write beautifully, and I'm just left in awe.
It's great your husband is doing wonderful and it's incredibly fortunate that you gave such luck with the doctors and healthcare.
There are so many others who aren't.

Thank you my young friend, @seki1. After I read my first draft of the post I realized I kept saying "we". It felt as though it was happening to me.
I am so acutely aware of this. As I think you know (because I've written about it) I was very poor when I was a child. I never received even basic childhood vaccinations. No medical care. The first time I was treated by a doctor was when I was given an experimental polio vaccine at school. I was in the first grade and so confused. The doctor grabbed my arm and I promptly passed out.
I think healthcare and food are basic human rights. These days I have plenty of both, but that wasn't always the case.
I hope you are well :)
