My work-field is application development, and I can already see that AI can replace not 1 in 5 but at least half of the software engineers... But I don't believe adoption of AI can be stopped or slowed down much...

For sure. I am being very conservative - and people think I am crazy already :D
It is very much a burning platform for many industries, yet people think that because they are surrounded by water, they will be fine - not realizing they won't burn, they will drown.

But I don't believe adoption of AI can be stopped or slowed down much...

Nope. The only "solution" is to change the way we fundamentally value ourselves.
