The power of Community

Even without any incentive.

A6400 Community.jpg

So I had been facing an issue with my new Sony A6400M Camera, after I changed some settings. It started taking two pictures of each capture, one a broad one, covering the entire area and then another focused on a specific area, that is even useless, because it just takes random objects in focus. Since I bought this camera sometimes back, I have been operating it with auto mode, because I am not knowledgeable on how to operate it for manual shooting. The online guide that is available has some summarized content, but that won't tell you, how they take effect in reality. And then there is a whole bunch of videos, classroom tutorials that is available at the dedicated site https://alphacommunity.in/ , but it needs some dedicated time to go through it.

alphacommunity.jpg

So in the absence of my available time, I am continuing to operate in auto mode, but then I tried changing some settings to make some better pictures. And then what came out of that experiment was beyond my understanding. So I started looking for some community help and posted my query first in alphacommunity forum : https://forum.alphacommunity.in/.

alphacommunity forum.jpg

Why does ILCE-6400M takes two snaps in auto mode, with the picture set to highest resolution ?

I bought this ILCE-6400M sometimes back, but not been able to learn to handle it for manual photography. So I have been mostly taking pictures in auto mode. Auto Mode is set to Superior Auto, Drive Mode to Single Shooting, JPEG Quality Extra fine, Focus Mode is Automatic AF. But whenever I take a photo, it takes two snaps, one is as focused covering the entire area, and other is a close up, that is PART of the entire area that is in the lens. Can anyone tell, why it takes two images ?

So this is what I remember, what I changed. The alphacommunity forum has Threads like ours, so this was a thread.

alphacommunity thread.jpg

Eleven people saw this but not a single reply providing some solution. So I started looking for some more help and posted the same in the Facebook community dedicated for Sony α6400M : https://www.facebook.com/groups/sonya6400shooters/.

A6400 Shooters FB Community.jpg

This was my first post on that group, and I had to wait for some time before the Admin approved and it got published. And look at the responses, that was very quick.

Community Response.jpg

“Auto Object Framing” was the culprit and Keith Brown is so pin pointed - It’s on the 14th screen of the first camera menu. Khairul Ikmar pointed that, if hdr mode is on (which is not true), it will takes two pictures. And I must say, I am super excited to see this kind of fast and accurate response - that's the power of community - help each other, without even any incentive, isn't it ?.

We need this kind of communities on #hive - engaging and supportive - need not be through long posts, which spoils the purpose. Since we have incentives here, its a bit difficult to curate and reward the genuine answers, but definitely, this is something very important for obvious user retention - a problem that we have not been able to solve.

What do you say ?

Any difficult and impossible tasks become possible when there is unity in the community.

Yes, and we need that kind of communities, that is engaging. Not just long form content.

Hello dear friend @sanjeevm good morning
What a pity that you have been having these problems with focusing your camera manually. And it's good that you found this community that has been so kind in providing a concise and quick response to solve the problem. It's good to see that there are people willing to collaborate.

I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon

Without any incentives even, that's the power of community.

Facebook Groups are pretty impressive. They are one of the only things I continue to use my account for over there. I rarely post outside a group and I don't do that much commenting either outside of groups. The sheer number of users over there is staggering. You will often have groups that are larger than the entire population of Hive.

And they engage much better than Hive I think ?

Yes, but I think that just boils down to the numbers.

So much power that lies when we come together to form a formidable team. We are always strong like the wall of China

Exactly, when there is a strong bonding , the community works best, without any financial incentive as well.

It is always good to have the help of a community to solve specific problems in our daily lives.

Yes You are saying right. I also agree. We should have a community here that can help and guide us.

Community Power is tremendous , if community decides to do a task no one can stop from doing that. I have observed that power also. I think we should make a community , anyone facing any genuine issue can post that and community can help that out. Thanks for the idea

I think we have a photography community here in Hive, did you ask there? It would be nice to think that you could have found your answer there as well, but I don't know if they allow those kinds of post. I do think that the Hive communities need to work on their niches more. Troubleshooting posts can be added to the Photography community to increase the range of audience. That can then hopefully speed up our process of mass adoption.

The community where I got the answer is very specific to the camera that I bought, so the expertise on that specific model is more.

I understand that. I only raised that question was because of this statement of yours:

We need this kind of communities on #hive - engaging and supportive - need not be through long posts, which spoils the purpose.

I already think that a lot of Hive communities are engaging and supportive. I do think that since it is a specific camera, the odds of someone knowing the answer here is slim, but not non-existent. It was just interesting that you are looking for it to happen in Hive, but don't want to give it a shot.

I have tried threads earlier, for some of my questions, but did not feel like it gets the answer. I agree to the fact that a lot of Hive communities are engaging and supportive, but they are mostly long form content. We did some dapps built for Q&A kind of stuffs, but it died most likely because of lack of incentives ( which is true here only)

I see. That is quite unfortunate. Although I think we have less users of threads, but I guess that doesn't change much.

...but they are mostly long form content

I was thinking maybe you could have created a post in the Photography community, uploaded the images that showed the problem, and asked in the post. I don't know if the community will be open to those kinds of posts though. Well, hopefully Hive gets more users and mass adoption, and those Q&A stuff gets some love as well.

Ya, that could have been a way.

I think you are very right. The engagement level on Facebook and other social media, I mean genuine one is what made people to keep going back to those social media and I strongly believe hive really needs to learn a lot from them concerning genuine engagement

Saludos amigo de la India, yo te voy a dar una solución sencilla, venderla sería una buena opción a un precio un poco más barato que el mercado actual.

Communities can be great. I remember the community in this blockchain called Musing. Though it was before the Hive fork then. Musing is a great community.

Such community can be helpful when we queries or have issues with the products we purchased.

This is why I think we need focused communities on Hive. Something like 'music' can be too broad. Hive could do what FB groups and reddit currently do, if we can get enough people over. That's the hard part. I've created a few such communities for my interests, but they are tiny for now.

Anyway, you got what you needed in this case.

Such problems are always there in things and the good thing is that there is a community here that helps each other and whatever problems occur they are gone.

You know man, once we have critical mass here, we will not have all subject matters covered by people with expertise, we will have them around the clock too. It is a little challenging with the busy feed, missing posts as they are pushed down by other posts.

Imagine getting paid (via upvotes and delegation payouts) to answer questions in certain communities dedicated to supporting business. I think this is one of hundreds of concepts that would live perfectly well here.

Awesome you were able to get clarity on your issue and nice of you to share it here in case others have the same issue.

Exactly, the musing community was doing well, but that was before hive.
