Using Your Phone Excessively Can Damage Your Health

Mobile phones have become a significant aspect of our life in the current world. We communicate, learn, work and entertain ourselves with the help of them. Phones enable us to keep in touch with our family and friends, find information fast and make life easier in a lot of aspects.

Nevertheless, excessive use of a phone may lead to severe health issues. Research in sciences has depicted that overuse of the telephone has the potential of influencing our physical health, mental health, sleep and even our social lives. In my opinion, we should comprehend such impacts in order to utilize our phones in a healthier manner.

Eye strain is one of the biggest health issues that are associated with phone overuse. A great number of individuals spend a lot of time staring at the screens of their phones. It has been found that excessive screen time may lead to dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches, and eye fatigue.

This syndrome is commonly referred to as digital eye strain. Phone screens also have a blue light whose exposure to the eyes can damage the eye over time. I have realized that when I spend most of my time on my phone I experience some pain and exhaustion in my eyes. Physicians encourage individuals to take frequent pauses and minimize the amount of time spent at the screen to keep their eyesight healthy.

Poor posture is another physical health problem that has been brought about by excessive phone use. Most individuals lower their heads when using the phones. Researchers have discovered that the position exerts additional strain on the spine and the neck.

This is also referred to as text neck. In the long-run, it may cause neck pains, back pain and shoulder pain. Research indicates that prolonged periods of sitting with the head in front may injure the muscles and bones. These problems can be prevented by good posture and limiting phone use.

Sleep quality may be influenced by excessive use of phones as well. It has been established that phone use in the evening can disrupt sleep. The phone screens impair the melatonin production, a hormone that aids the body in sleeping as a result of the blue light. In case of low melatonin levels, sleepiness is hard to find.

Individuals who access their phones at night have low sleep and become fatigued during the day. This has been the case with me when I spend my nights glued to my phone and cannot sleep. Getting a poor sleep may undermine the immune system and diminish the concentration.

Another aspect that is highly impacted by the excessive phone use is mental health. Research indicates that excessive social media use may lead to stress, anxiety and depression. Individuals can compare their lives with those of other individuals on the internet and become dissatisfied or insecure. The brain may also be overwhelmed by constant notifications.

It has been discovered that heavy phone users are prone to loneliness despite constant connectivity to the internet. I believe that this is due to the fact that real life encounters are reduced.

Moreover, too much phone use may decrease exercise. The majority use their time sitting and scrolling rather than exercise their bodies. Studies have associated sedentary lifestyles with obesity, heart diseases and diabetes.

The health of the people is affected negatively once they substitute exercise with phone usage. Physical exercise is prescribed by doctors to ensure that the body remains strong and healthy.

Lastly, excessive phone usage may interfere with the relationship and communication capabilities. Whenever individuals concentrate on their phones when speaking, this lacks human touch and interaction.

Research indicates that good social relationships are vital in the psychological and emotional well-being. In my opinion, it is very crucial to balance between the use of phones and real-life communication.

Phones are not bad things, but over-indulgence in them will destroy our health in numerous ways. Based on scientific studies, excessive use of phones can damage the eyes, posture, sleep, mental state, and physical activity rates.

In my opinion, it is necessary to understand how to control the use of the phone to have a healthy life. Breathing in, watching less screen, and being mindful of using our phones will ensure that we are healthy and enhance our well-being.
