Hi Sammy. I agree with you about the admiration for industrial automation. It's been making great strides over the last 30 years. Industrial automation tools serve to:
-Increase productivity and repeatability (reduce variability)
-Improve quality (inline control, traceability)
-Reduce costs and waste (energy, scrap, downtime)
-Increase safety (safety functions)
-Enable data for maintenance, OEE, continuous improvement
Today, industrial automation tools are extremely important and increasingly high-performance. Furthermore, I think there's a lot of research currently being done on these devices.
