Music Therapy and Brain Healing ? What that all about ? Find out

I came across an article on my browser feed , it says and I quote “Music Therapy Shows Promise in Brain Rehabilitation" . This was part of a section of its summary” yeah, and I mostly use chrome for most of my online surfing if you care to know ...

The thing is, I’ve always loved music, I always knew it could help heal the brain and all. But naturally, I had to find out more since the article title seemed so catchy.

So, what’s exactly is music therapy as inferred by the article ?

It’s actually pretty simple . The idea basically is that listening to or making music can help people who have problems with their brains, yeah, in simple terms. Whether it’s because of an injury, a stroke, or something like dementia, music can actually help the brain work better.

Now Music therapy as we know it, is all about using music to get the brain to wake up and start working again. It’s like giving your brain a workout, but instead of you going about lifting weights or running and stuffs like that, you’re listening to your favorite sound track easy peasy. Now back to the article, the article talked about how music can help with things like speech, movement, and memory, which is pretty amazing when you think about it.

One thing that really stuck with me was the story about people who had strokes and lost the ability to speak. But guess what? Even though they couldn’t talk, they could still sing. That’s because music and language are processed in different parts of the brain. So, by singing, they were able to slowly learn how to talk again. Wow! I don't know about you, but doesn't music seem overpowered!?

Then the article went on to explain how music can help people with dementia. Yes! those set of people who might not remember much from day to day, but when they hear a song from their past, it can bring back all kinds of memories and emotions. It’s like music is that single key that single-handedly unlocks parts of the brain that seemed lost.

With the article still highlighting all potentials effects of music therapy on the brain which seemed really promising, I started thinking about all the times when music has helped me feel better. We’ve all been there, that moment of feeling sad, stressed, or just tired and then a good song comes on, and suddenly, we feel a little bit better. Music can do more than just lift our mood. It could actually help heal the brain.

Imagine going to the doctor, and instead of handing you a prescription for pills, they give you a playlist. “Listen to this when you need to relax,” or “Play this when you’re feeling down.” It sounds almost too good to be true, but who knows? Maybe one day that’ll be a normal part of healthcare.

Honestly, after reading the article, I felt inspired to make music an even bigger part of my life. Maybe it’s time to create some playlists for different moods, one for when I need to focus, another for when I want to relax, and maybe one just for fun lol. The idea that music could actually help keep my brain healthy makes it all the more enjoyable.

So, what did I take away from all this?

Music isn’t just something we enjoy, it’s something that can actually make us healthier. So the very next time you listen to your favorite song, think about how it’s not just making you feel good, it’s also giving your brain a little boost.

By the way, I’m definitely going to be turning up the volume more often now, knowing that it’s not just my ears that are enjoying it, but my brain too. My advice, go ahead, put on your favorite song, and let the music do its thing. Your brain will thank you! Just try not to start dancing in public ... hehe, but if you dont mind people giving you strange looks please go ahead lol!.

Thanks For Reading
