I was going through my browser feed yesterday and I stumbled on something rather fascinating on Beetroots.. Carefully look at the screenshot below 👇

Now the above information circled in blue in the above screenshot states " why do Beetroot turns your poop and pee red ? " . Now it turning our poop red is still quite understandable which could be explained from it red pigment but turning pee red, that calls for some questions especially when you are well aware of the ultra-filtration power of the kidney

Lets find out more

So, according to the meticulous investigations of the wise Whitney Linsenmeyer and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, beets are equipped with a sneaky compound called betanin. This pigment isn’t just any pigment; it’s more like the Houdini of food compounds. Betanin marches through your digestive tract like a VIP, bypassing the usual breakdown processes, and decides to paint the town... well, red in the process.

But wait, there’s more! As it turns out, this beet-induced marvel isn’t just about pigmentation or probably hyperpigmentation value. Betanin, our elusive little pigment, is also an undercover agent with antioxidant powers. It waltzes in, neutralizing those pesky free radicals, trying to prevent DNA damage, and masquerading as an anti-inflammatory superhero. However, here comes the twist in the story—despite its gallant efforts, betanin's bioavailability is akin to that one friend who’s always fashionably late to the party. Only a fraction gets absorbed, leaving the rest to continue its journey through your system, exiting with a vibrant display of colors both in your poop and pee.

Now, you might want to hold on to your seats, because the most intriguing part of this is the stats. One in ten people experiences this crimson wonderland. It's like unexpectedly winning a prize that turns your bathroom into a colorful surprise . And remember, this isn’t just a solo act. Beeturia, as it’s coined in the beet world, sometimes extends its effects to your urine too. A double feature, if you will.

Amidst all this, let's not forget to be cautious, should your restroom adventures persist longer than expected, a call to the white-coated experts might be in order. As much as we appreciate beet-inspired artwork, persistent coloration might be a sign that demands a bit more attention.

You should also understand that everything is more of timing. How long before the magic happens? Well, that depends on your digestive rhythm. And fear not, if you ever find yourself in a beet-related panic, the wise doctors are at your service, ready to decipher if it's an art project or a genuine cause for concern.

So, basically, beets can do it all in your kitchen, showing up in salads, smoothies, and even starring in a colorful bathroom show. It's a fun reminder that even in the serious world of nutrition, a little surprise color is always welcome!

So, the next time you indulge in those crimson-hued delights, remember the possibility of a red-painted aftermath and brace yourself for a magical experience that might just leave you blushing at the oddest times. Who knew veggies could be this thrilling, right?

Thanks for reading, I would see you again!!

I know, Sam. I am going through a veggy cure since March this year because of covid damages and I have used: 1 carrot or two, 1 apple and 1 beetroot. Put them in the blender and drank that juice. I get the same results .... and I first got scared that something might have happened to me. then I found out it is more than natural.

Yeah, a lot of people get seriously scared at first especially when they have no idea what might have caused the coloration, even so it still better to see the doctors for confirmation and reconfirmation

Hope you now doing a lot better ?

Hi. Yes, somehow. I am still on a diet for microbiome and got stomach pains daily. Hopefully, next year I'll get better. It's been 9 months and I really want that. Thanks for asking!
