Evolution Of Technology: Negative Impact On Slow Adoptors

Introduction

The reality of our today world was generally as a result of the evolution of technology over the years. Common ideas of man later became true reality that is still affecting lives in both positive and negative ways. Failures and several attempts are basically part of what we see in this modern world.

I can't just imagine, if we were still living in the old era where big digital machines were used in storing data. Sadly, only big companies and government could afford those machines. Or an era were the internet could only be accessed by those with heavy desktop computers. Then the possibility of seeing this present future won't be clear to so many.

The barrier of reaching anyone around the world has become a thing of the past, as digital smart phones and computers are now very common and also affordable to even the common masses. Interestingly, this smart phones are very much compatible, which makes it very flexible to carry about.

Interestingly, newspapers are no longer in form of papers again. This kept me laughing after thinking about it. Newspapers which normally appears as paper are now also in digital form, and are even more structured than the physical paper type.

Another type technology that is gradually gaining awareness around the world is Artificial intelligence(AI). The great thinking of human has lead to the discovery of machine language that has the ability to perform intelligent reasoning and possible solutions to most problems. Though this intelligence has raised so many concerns today, due to how vast it can be applied in different industries that makes the world a better place.

What keeps the evolution of technology going ?. Are we actually in a competition with other people outside the world or with the people inside the world ?. The next phase of this post should have a hint to that.

Increase In Knowledge

From my own research and studies, I have come to realize that the major reason behind the evolution of technology is as a result of an increase in knowledge. Humans(though not everyone) have a great taste in figuring out untold problems and suggesting possible solutions.

We could basically trace the increase in knowledge back to the old era of the philosophers. This are certain group of people that have more curiosity mindset than believe. They are eager to know why and how things works. I could even say that philosophers are the driving force behind evolution.

Every technology we see today was as a result of what someone figured out, but with the intentions of making an upgrade of the old forms of technology. The reason for an increase in knowledge has basically set us in a competitive race to breaking limit. In other words, we can say that other people's discovery gives us the neccesary experience to do something different.

Sometimes as humans, the fear of what artificial intelligence might do in the nearest future flashes through our minds. Though we appreciate what it offers, but we still have the doubt of job insecurity and threat. It's clearly understood that no one wants to lose his/her job to a machine that could work with a better efficiency, but could increase in knowledge solve the situation at that point ?.

Increase in knowledge in our today world can be trace down to the evolution of technology. Discovery of ancient items and the solving of ancient puzzles has been made flexible, but I can't say easy. There is no limit to learning as long as technology and mankind still exist. The continuous evolution of this technology keeps our lazy feet up.

Digital Currencies

Just as every sector keeps making technological progress, the finance industry isn't left out either. Medium of exchange has upgrade from the Trade by Barter system, down to the currency system. The currency system which is also called fiat currencies are basically backed by the government of a country, and it serves a general purpose for everyone, depending on how much we posses.

In recent time, fiat currency has attracted a competitor due to what evolution of technology has to offer. Countries now find it very pleasant to have their funds in digital forms as well as the physical form. But this digital currencies of any country still serve the same purpose without basic changes except for the digitization.

Another form of digital currency has surfaced itself and have even proven to be a better form of digital currency own by any country. This currency is known as cryptocurrency, and it has already started gaining vast adoption among those that appreciate its true value.

Interestingly, an increase in knowledge was the key source of cryptocurrency. A mysterious smart thinking group of people or individual came up with a solution to solving the problems of third party interference in financial transactions. Satoshi Nakamoto clearly wanted a decentralized system, where owners of funds could approve their own transactions at any point in time.

The new medium of digital currency which is cryptocurrency was clearly a technological upgrade that is currently offering life changing opportunities to so many. Though, it's never a win win situation due to how volatile this currencies are, but the most enjoyable benefit of this technology is the decentralization.

Failure To Adopt

Surprisingly, with the vast adoption of modern forms of technology like computers and smart phones, billions of people are not still aware, or should i say that billions of people are not keeping themselves updated about the technological changes.

Smarts phones are the most common forms of technology that can be own by anyone due to the general purpose it serves. People only focus more on this area for flaunting reasons, but fail to focus on what drives the world forward. Let me share a short story of my recent experience...

Recently, i left my home to pay someone a visit, though paying visit was never my thing. I came across a shop which i have known for a very long time. They normally sell cassette tapes of movies and cartoons which they still sell till this very minute. I was quite surprised, as i wonder and asked myself "who still watch cassette tapes this days ?". I can't even remember the last time i tried watching a movie with a DVD player since the internet now house majority of every movie and cartoons that are been released.

Though i am not sure if the shop is making any positive sales, but this clearly shows that the failure to adopt the evolution of technology has become a major problem that might likely be faced.
Sometimes, we feel that just because people still use our products or accept our services, it makes us a better option than others. But interestingly, increase in knowledge keeps most people awake at night, trying to figure out ground breaking technological solutions to problems.

The recent blackberry movie gave me an insight of how sensitive adoption works. The introduction of blackberry phone was like a limit to digital smart phones, till apple made a shocking introduction of a phone that has its keyboard on the screen. Though blackberry had good numbers of Adoptors, but the apple project happens to be a better future which secured more adoption towards touch screen phones.

Are There More ?

Are there more ?.
This is a question that only few ask. With all this upgrades and advancement in tech, the possibility of figuring out something different might be slightly difficult but very possible. Humans are learning everyday just to increase their knowledge and figure out possible solutions to problems.

Recently, a friend of mine shared with me a discovery that he learnt about. He clearly stated that "A big space company now uses 3D part printing for making certain parts of space ships". This clearly shows another level of technology upgrade and it's gradual adoption.

Artificial Intelligence is already rendering human efforts useless due to the amount of information it possess and has access to. This AI keeps getting upgrades, creating smart work force in every industry. What other technology could be better than this ?.

From my own curiosity, I still feel that we haven't gone too far in terms of technology evolution, though this modern day appears to be the limit to every thing. Artificial Intelligence happens to be a thing of the future, but the probability of having an upgrade is sure. We shouldn't forget the case of Blackberry and Apple.

Even with the upgrades and advancement, mass adoption has always been a major problem in certain regions. How well can people stick to this development so as not to miss out from any of it's benefits ?.

My Opinion And Conclusion

Evolution of technology is basically a step by step process of breaking technological barrier, thereby improving better ways of living. This evolution is greatly attributed to an increase in knowledge Just like i stated in this post. We could basically trace the increase in knowledge back to the old era of the philosophers.
