The Space Between Us - 2017 (Movie Review)
Not all scientific or should i say sci-fi movies are worth watching, but the ability to grab basic information being passed across, makes those movies splendid. The Space Between Us gave a pure scientific explaination of how possible it is, for humans to live on planet mars. Outside the scientific aspect, we also saw some emotions and romantic moment in the movie.
The Space Between Us is an american movie, directed by Peter Chelsom and written by Allan Loeb. The movie is more of romance-science related, released in 2017. The movie was a story of a teenage boy(Gardner Elliot), born on planet mars, who was desperate to travel to planet earth, to see what another life feels like.
The first scene showed Gary Oldman on stage, delivery speech on the possibility of humans living on mars, which was a program organized by himself and NASA. Later on, Gardner introduced some crew members who where fully prepared to start the operation. The space crew was lead by Sarah Elliot.
The journey to planet mars finally started, has the space ship was launched straight into space. 2months later, sarah elliot became pregnant.
It seems to me that she had met with someone, before embarking on the mission🤔.
They where still in space, when she and other crew members noticed the pregnancy, because travelling to mars literally takes about 7months. The news of the pregnancy was n't what Gary would be pleased with, as he was very scared of letting the public know. He also considered the amount of time and investment that had being dedicated to the project, and how unwise it would be to terminate it because of a pregnant woman in space.
Nine(9) months, which was the time of birth, finally came. They where lucky enough to have arrived at the East Texas which is the NASA's scientific HQ in mars. Sarah successively delivered the baby, but unfortunately lost her life. The whole situation got worsen for Gary and his associates who where still living on earth.
16years later, the child(gardner) grew to become a brilliant teenage, but had an enlarge heart due to a high level of troponin, that makes it impossible for him to withstand the atmospheric pressure of earth. A magnetic implant was attached to Gardner's heart for stability, but he often uses it to by-pass codes of the HQ. He usually refers the East Texas as "bubble", due to the boring life style he has lived all through, with no friends except a robot.
Gardner finally made a friend who lives on earth, named Tulsa. Their friendship was found through the social space. Gardner has always promised tulsa of coming to visit her, but would later lie to her that he is from New york, and wouldn't be let out by his parents. The chance finally broke for Gardner, where a space flight was arranged to bring him back to earth.
Gardner was so fascinated about how beautiful the earth was, and the large water that fills it. It even baffles him why humans where so interested in going to mars, instead of enjoying the beautiful nature of earth. Gardner's arriver on earth was meant to be secret, and to be kept from everybody, but he sneaked out of the NASA's station few moments after his arrival. He located Tulsa in her school, where the both of them where chased by Gary and security forces.
Gardner's presence to the outside world could be a threat to Gary's reputation and Gardner's health also, due to the fact that he finds it difficult to cope with the atmospheric pressure of the earth. Gardner had to plead with Tulsa, to help him locate his father, who he has seen in a photo with his mother, and believes that he his still alive.
Gardner and Tulsa finally located the house, that was in the photo. Surprising, the man on the photo wasn't gardner's father, but happend to be his uncle. At first, the uncle couldn't believe that his sister had a child. All he knows was that his sister died in space.
Due to the disappointment of not being able to find his father, gardner decided to takes his own life in the big ocean close to the scene. Luckily, Gary was able to come to the rescue, and he happend to be the true father of Gardner. Gardner was later sent back to space, where he lived happily with his father Gary.
I hope you enjoyed this review, please do well to watch🙌.
