“Fascinating insects” community, this is my first post in this community and I wanted to do it with a somewhat quirky insect with unusual features. After having had the opportunity to witness this insect with my eyes, I could not stop capturing these images to share in this community.

Saludos comunidad de “Insectos fascinantes” esta es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad y quise hacerla con un insecto algo estrafalario y con unos rasgos fuera de lo común. Luego de haber tenido la oportunidad de presenciar este insecto con mis ojos, no pude dejar de capturar estas imágenes para compartir en esta comunidad.

My curiosity was called by a lady who walked and showed the curious about this insect, so I approached her to take some pictures, the funny thing about this whole story is that the lady told me that this insect had aphrodisiac powers, the name of which she He gave me was "crush." So I decided to research and share with all of you the scientific name of this insect and the true information we have about it.

Llamo mi curiosidad una señora que caminaba y mostraba a los curiosos este insecto, así que me le acerque para tomar algunas fotografías, lo más gracioso de toda esta historia es que la señora me dijo que este insecto tenia poderes afrodisíacos, el nombre el cual ella me dio fue de “machaca.” Así que decidí investigar y compartir con todos ustedes el nombre científico de este insecto y la verdadera información que se tiene de el.

Scientists called it Fulgora laternaria, a name inspired by the strange appearance of the hollow protrusion that forms the anterior portion of its head, its appearance produces some fear because its head is shaped like a small lizard, there are many stories that There is around this insect, getting to hear among the inhabitants that if you are bitten by this insect you could die, if you do not have sexual relations in less than 24 hours. The truth of everything regarding this insect is that many people say that it is a family of cicadas, scientifically known as cycadids (Cicadidae), these two insects have something in common, the sound they make is similar. This insect has a size of approximately 5 centimeters, and when opening its wings, two circles can be distinguished, which in the dark are mistaken for the eyes of an owl, being able to say that this serves as a distraction to protect itself from the attack of Other animals. Its color allows it to be camouflaged among the trees.

Los científicos la llamaron Fulgora laternaria, un nombre inspirado por el extraño aspecto de la protuberancia hueca que forma la porción anterior de su cabeza, su aspecto produce algo de temor debido a que su cabeza tiene forma de un pequeño lagarto, son muchas las historias que hay alrededor de este insecto, llegándose a escuchar entre los pobladores que si eres mordido por este insecto podrías morir, si no tienes relaciones sexuales en menos de 24 horas. Lo cierto de todo con respecto a este insecto es que muchas personas dicen que es familia de las chicharas, conocida científicamente como cicádidos (Cicadidae), estos dos insectos tienen algo en común, el sonido que hacen es similar. Este insecto tiene un tamaño aproximadamente de 5 centímetros, y al abrir sus alas, se le distinguen dos círculos, los cuales se llegan a confundir en la oscuridad con los ojos de un búho, pudiéndose decir que esto sirve como distracción para protegerse del ataque de otros animales. Su color permite que se camuflarse entre los arboles.

Hello, thank you for reading my publication, the insect was not my property, it was from a lady from a community in which many insects abound, because it is a rural area, the insect was already dead when she showed them to me, it is unfortunate that people handle these insects, without knowing their importance.
