World Largest Hydrogen Powered truck!!
The world's largest Hydrogen powered truck was launched in South Africa on Friday, 6 May. This truck was launched at an Anglo American platinum mine called Magolakwena mine, in Northern South Africa.
This truck has a 2 Mega Watt Hydrogen-fuelled power plant. The truck's traction motors are powered by 8 x 100kW Hydrogen fuel cells as well as a 1.1 MW Lithium-ion battery pack!! Eat your heart out Tesla!!
This truck started out life as a diesel-electric truck, which was converted to Hydrogen power, in the photo below the Hydrogen power pack is being installed.
This truck has a payload of 300 metric ton!!
The hydrogen to power this truck is made by electricity supplied by a 100 MW solar generation plant.
This is all part of Anglo American's plan to become Carbon Neutral by 2040
