There's A New Spehere On The Block

There's a new building in Las Vegas, Nevada that is turning heads. It's called the Sphere because that's what it is, a giant sphere. But, it's no ordinary sphere. The exterior is completely covered in LEDs which produce stunning visuals as can be seen in this video.
The Sphere is an entertainment venue that will host concerts, events and sports, but also mega advertising on it's exterior. It cost $2.3 billion dollars to build and took 4 years to complete. The LED exterior went on line July 4th, but it will officially open in September with a performance by U2.
The structurre stands at 366 feet tall(112 meters). There are 1.2million LED's on the surface, each with 48 diodes that can produce 2565 million colors. Interestingly each LED is spaced 8 inches apart, so it's not solid LEDs. 8 inches is a pretty big space, especially if you are standing close, but just a few hundred feet away you don't notice as it produces stunning visuals.
The interior can host 18,600 people in seats or 20,000 standing. For more detailed information you can visit their site or their Wiki page.

I just drove through Vegas a few weeks ago, but unfortunately didn't know about the project. While I wouldn't make a trip out just to see it, if I do happen to be out near Vegas I would definitely stop by to see it in person, especially at night.
