Beyond Competition: The Symbiosis of Human and Artificial Intelligence

AI simply stands for Artificial Intelligence. It is a tool developed to enhance human intelligence. AI utilises existing information, processing it to deliver the best results for humans seeking that information. When considering who or what is smarter, it is pointless to compare, as both have advantages and disadvantages. Believing that one is smarter than AI initially indicates a lack of understanding, because knowing what AI is means recognising that, like humans, AI has its pros and cons. Nonetheless, the debate over who is smarter should not be a source of conflict, as AI is specifically designed to process large volumes of data rapidly—something a single human cannot easily achieve. This necessity led humans to create AI in the first place.

When it comes to processing information, the AI can scan billions of pages of information in milliseconds, identifying patterns in such data or information that a human may find impossible to, it also can provide answers to different subject matters without becoming exhausted, providing everything it is being asked for on time.
Although AI can make mistakes since it feeds from the existing data or information it has access to, which the information could be wrong, its mistakes are a result of what it has, since it’s a garbage-in and garbage-out kind of tool. Humans also make mistakes, but not as thoroughly as AI will make. The AI may not have the right information necessary to give out the resulting information, but it gives out the information anyway, as it is not likely to come back empty-handed. A human, on the other hand, commits these mistakes from fatigue and can show that they are not sure of their response.

Where the AI doesn't stand a chance with a human is the ability to be innovative and create new ways of solving some specific challenges, since the AI can only work with information that has already been provided beforehand, using such information to meet or solve the needs and challenges presented to it. The AI works with a programme, where the AI is not programmed to do something, the AI will be unable to do such a task, whereas a smart human can come up with solutions freshly from his or her thought, some solution that was never thought before. Like the AI, for instance, which is an innovation that was first thought of by a human.

Another point the human has against the AI is the ability to empathise with another human, while AI can only have a simulation of how another human may feel; a human has its own experience with the situation, and thus may come up with better information or judgement in this regard.

The AI tool should simplify and amplify a person's smartness rather than being a tool to compare the smartness of another human with. Using the tool helps amplify a smart person's work while not relying completely on AI, but rather using it to assist one with his or her obligations.
