Hive just got a new user: My Introductory Post to the Blogging Community

Hello everyone!

I’m your boy Idris Olawale aka “Bobby”

I’m a thoroughbred academic whose got passion for writing and researching into “greens” (medicinal plants). You don’t have to wonder much about me because I was lucky enough to get my footing from the beginning of my University journey. I studied Botany from the Obafemi Awolowo University, my insatiable quest for learning, research and writing lead me to obtaining a Master degree in ecology and environmental science. Not satisfied I went further to South Africa to get a PhD in Botany with my specialization in African medicinal plants and their curative potentials against dreaded diseases battling the world at large like cancer, diabetes, STIs, coronary heart diseases, respiratory diseases to mention but a few.

As you must have noticed from my name OLAWALE I’m a Yoruba from the largest city in Africa, Ibadan located in south western part of Nigeria. I am a fun-loving person. I’m loyal and committed to a fault according to my family and most of my friends LOL. I’m passionate about everything I set my mind to achieving and I do my best to attain my goals.

My hobbies keep evolving over time but just to mention a few, I love travelling and meeting new people who I can learn from, I love soccer though I don’t play much, I love spending time with my family and friends, I love reading academic books strictly based on research purposes and I love writing most especially about plants that can provide solutions to health issues around the world as against our total dependence on synthetic drugs.

I have authored couple of articles in international peer review journals where role of medicinal plants for treating life threatening diseases have been well enunciated. I am an astute researcher with almost two decades of experience in research and publishing.

Paradoxically, in the academia, we publish just to spread knowledge that could be beneficial to the world populace, little did I know that writing could become a source of earning income for academic writers.

Imagine a scholar who is dedicated to writing and learned the power of spreading the gospel of research via writing for academic purposes only, but informed of the possibility of doing what you know how to do best and still earn income from such undertaking. Whao….. What a world of infinite possibilities.

I was introduced to this knowledge-impacting platform by my friend from way back in the University (OAU) (@gentleshaid). I implore you to keep faith with me as I dish out my God given talent (prowess) through educative, intellectual and knowledge driven pieces I hope to be giving out as we move on. Great thanks to Saheed who magnanimously introduced me to this writing community and for providing the necessary assistance to have a good starting.

Welcome to Hive and STEMsocial. Don't hesitate to ask for for help if needed, and we are looking forward to read your publications. I nevertheless have a question, when you write:

As you must have noticed from my name OLAWALE I’m a Yoruba from the largest city in Africa, Ibadan located in south western part of Nigeria.

Is your name fully specific to Yorobas? Does it mean that anyone having such a name has to be a Yoroba? I apologise in advance for the naive question (I am not Nigerian).

Thank you Lemouth. I appreciate your genuine comment and I will answer your question thus, ''OLAWALE'' is a Yoruba name and such names are borne from the southwestern part of Nigeria. No other tribe can bear such name, apart from Yoruba. Nigeria has over 250 ethnic tribes and Yoruba is one of the major ethnic tribe in Nigeria.

I hope your question is adequately answered.
