The Spotify Wrapped is finally here!

Although it sounds a bit superficial, one of the things I enjoy most about having a Spotify account is “Wrapped,” an event that the platform holds at the end of each year in order to review the artists and songs that we have listened to the most throughout these 12 months. It’s silly, I know, especially considering that on sites like Spotify Stats we have access to this information at any time, but there is something special about the way Wrapped is presented (as well as the possibility of seeing other people’s stats), which makes it particularly striking.

For some reason this year Wrapped took longer than usual to arrive (We usually have it available before the end of November), and, in terms of available information, it was a bit sparse… Nevertheless, it is still interesting to analyze our habits when it comes to listening to music during the year. Personally, I really enjoy comparing my number of minutes played to my family/friends, though I admit I went a little overboard with the time this time around – I guess it’s because I find it easy to listen to music at work/gym, and basically any free minute I have.

My most-streamed artist of the year was Feid, a Colombian singer who has been behind the most interesting Spanish-language projects I’ve come across recently, most notably his 2021 album Inter Shibuya, which was probably my most-streamed one of 2024. This is the first time since I created my Spotify account in 2019 that my most-streamed artist isn’t Kanye West, though he still managed to sneak into the second spot on the list, a testament to the love I still feel for Anglo-Saxon hip hop.

I don't feel like this was the best Wrapped and I missed a lot of specific statistics that aren't freely accessible (something that did happen in previous years, where we could access the most listened to genre or the region of the world with which we shared tastes, to mention a couple of examples). But it's still fun to watch.

It is also worth noting that in Venezuela (my country) neither podcasts nor videos are available, something that will also limit the information on Wrapped, especially because this year several of the most recognized artists in the world made personalized videos for those who had them in their top most listened.
