Technology moves way too fast. [ENG/ESP]

A couple of weeks ago, for some reason I started having problems with the Bluetooth of my phone, a Xiaomi MI 11 Lite that I acquired more than a year ago, with which I honestly still feel very satisfied.

The thing is that overnight I started having problems when I tried to pair it with my headphones, some Redmi Buds Lite 4 that I recently acquired.

Obviously, considering that I am a person who spends a good portion of my day listening to music, listening to podcasts or watching videos, series and movies on my cell phone, this was a quite frustrating situation... which, apart from that, I could not solve even by updating my device , nor formatting it.

I tried everything: I used my headphones on other smartphones and they worked fine, while any other speaker or pair of headphones I tried to connect to my phone had the same problem.

And what was the problem? Although it indicated that the headphones were connected, the music and videos did not make any sound and remained in a constant Play-Pause loop that did not stop until I unpaired them.

Since it was obviously not feasible for me to change phones (and the truth is that apart from that inconvenience I have not had any other problems with my MI 11 Lite), I decided that the smartest thing to continue listening to music was to simply reuse an old device, thus taking advantage of my relatively new headphones.

This is how the idea of this publication arose, since after more than 5 years I was forced to return to my old Samsung Galaxy J7, a phone that at the time was a solid mid-range but that time has treated a little more.

I am not only referring to its physical condition (which is largely the fault of the misuse I gave it, I admit that it was even submerged in gasoline), but to the way in which the hardware of these phones tends to become obsolete quickly, as consequence of the accelerated advancement of this type of technology each year.

And although at the time its features were more than decent (2GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM and a Snapdragon 615 processor), now they even struggle to perform simple tasks such as sending text messages or playing music.

Perhaps the change is more psychological, and the performance has always been the same... only that today we are accustomed to a higher refresh rate and a better level of optimization, all this without taking into account details such as the greater performance of the batteries or the quality of the speakers.

The point of this experience is that instead of lamenting how challenging it feels to use my old Galaxy J7 with physical buttons, there is something fascinating about imagining what the future holds, when instead of seeing 8 and 16 GB of ram as something futuristic is a thing of the past.

For now I'm content with my little big improvised "iPod", which at least allows me to listen to music on Spotify and watch a couple of videos on YouTube.

Hace un par de semanas por alguna razón empecé a tener problemas con el Bluetooth de mi teléfono, un Xiaomi MI 11 Lite que adquirí hace más de un año con el cual honestamente aún me siento muy conforme.

La cuestión es que de la noche a la mañana empecé a tener problemas cuando trataba de parearlo con mis audífonos, unos redmi buds lite 5 que adquirí hace poco.

Obviamente, considerando que soy una persona que pasa una buena porción de su día escuchando música, escuchando podcasts o viendo videos, series y películas en mi celular, está era una situación bastante frustrante... que aparte, no pude solucionar ni actualizando mi dispositivo, ni formateandolo.

Lo probé todo: usé mis audífonos en otros smartphones y funcionaban bien, mientras que cualquier otro speaker o par de auriculares que intentaba conectar a mi teléfono presentaban el mismo problema.

¿y como era el problema? Aunque marcaba que los audífonos estaban conectados, la música y los vídeos no emitían ningún sonido y se mantenían en un loop constante de Play-Pause que no se detenía hasta que los desvinculaba.

Cómo obviamente no era factible para mí cambiar de teléfono (Y la verdad aparte de ese inconveniente no he tenido ningún otro problema), decidí que lo más inteligente para seguir escuchando música era simplemente reutilizar un dispositivo viejo, aprovechando así mis relativamente nuevos audífonos.

Así fue como surgió la idea de esta publicación, puesto que luego de más de 5 años me ví obligado a retomar mi viejo Samsung Galaxy J7, un teléfono que en su momento resultó un sólido gama media pero que el tiempo ha tratado un poco más.

No solo me refiero a su condición física (Que en gran parte es culpa del mal uso que le di yo, admito que incluso estuvo sumergido en gasolina), sino a la forma en la que el hardware de estos teléfonos suele quedar obsoleto rápidamente, como consecuencia del avance acelerado de este tipo de tecnología cada año.

Y es que si bien en su momento sus prestaciones eran más que decentes (2gb de ram, 16gb de rom y un procesador Snapdragon 615)... ahora incluso sufren para realizar tareas simples como enviar mensajes de texto, o reproducir música.

Quizá el cambio es más psicológico, y el rendimiento ha Sido el mismo siempre... solo que en la actualidad estamos acostumbrados a una tasa de refresco más alto y un nivel de optimización mejor, todo esto sin contar detallitos como el mayor rendimiento de las baterías o la calidad de los speakers.

El punto de esta experiencia es que en vez de lamentar lo desafado que se siente utilizar mi viejo Galaxy J7 con botones físicos, hay algo fascinante en imaginar lo que nos depara el futuro, cuando en vez de ver 8 y 16 GB de ram como algo futurista sea cosa del pasado.

De momento me conformo con mi pequeño gran iPod improvisado, que al menos me permite escuchar música en Spotify y ver un par de videos en Youtube.
