HyperOS is finally here - the new Xiaomi Update!

After a fairly long wait, Xiaomi's new operating system 'HyperOS' is finally available for most of its devices in recent years.

As I explained in a post a couple of days ago, I recently acquired a Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and although in general terms I feel very satisfied with it, one of my main complaints regarding this phone was the fact that it did not include this update from the factory, being relegated to the outdated MIUI 14.

However, it must be admitted that despite this the HyperOS update did not take long to arrive, and I am excited to finally be able to review it here.

The first thing we must take into account is that the premise of this operating system lies in unifying all the devices that are part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, from phones and tablets to airbuds, routers and smart home devices, a smart move made with the intention of sharing with other popular ecosystems such as Samsung and obviously Apple.

It is important that we take into account that this does not imply that HyperOS will be radically different from what we saw in MIUI, in fact, at least in a mid-range device like the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ most of the "improvements" are relegated to the aesthetic plane, something that is appreciated but that could undoubtedly feel insufficient considering the large amount of hype we had behind this rebranding.

HyperOS takes several subtle inspirations from the aesthetic identity of other operating systems like iOS, something that might outrage some Android purists, but which I personally think works in Xiaomi's favor.

The new system icons are nice and the new control center manages to feel fresh and refreshing without straying too far from what we previously knew, the same could be said for the settings menus and the general interface.

From an aesthetic point of view, the only thing I don't really like is the new music/multimedia playback notification, minimalist and consistent with the rest of the operating system, but extremely bland.

The biggest inclusion of HyperOS is undoubtedly the new set of customization options for the lock screen, a considerable improvement over the previous version that can be overwhelming at first but can progressively lead to great creations.

In terms of performance there is little to say, in this aspect it is a fairly conservative update, the battery continues to work well and I have not experienced slowdowns that were not there before.

The wait was worth it? Depending on each person's expectations, HyperOs is a solid update that improves several details and speaks very well of Xiaomi's long-term potential.

Luego de una espera bastante extensa finalmente está disponible el nuevo sistema operativo de Xiaomi 'HyperOS' para la mayoría de sus dispositivos de los últimos años.

Cómo expuse en un post hace un par de días, recientemente adquirí un Redmi Note 13 Pro+ y aunque en términos generales me siento muy satisfecho con el una de mis quejas principales respecto a este teléfono era el hecho de que no incluía de fabrica esta actualización, quedando relegado al anticuado MIUI 14.

No obstante, hay que reconocer que a pesar de esto la actualización de HyperOS no se tomó mucho tiempo en llegar, y me emociona la idea de poder reseñarla aquí finalmente.

Lo primero que debemos tomar en cuenta es que la premisa de este sistema operativo radica en unificar todos los aparatos que forman parte del ecosistema de Xiaomi, desde los teléfonos y las tablets hasta los airbuds, routers y aparatos inteligentes para el hogar, una movida inteligente realizada con la intención de compartir con otros ecosistemas populares como Samsung y obviamente Apple.

Es importante que tomemos en cuenta que esto no implica que HyperOS será radicalmente diferente a lo que veíamos en MIUI, de hecho, al menos en un dispositivo de gama media como el Redmi Note 13 Pro+ la mayoría de las "mejoras" quedan relegadas al plano estético, algo que se agradece pero que sin duda podría sentirse insuficiente considerando la gran cantidad de hype que tuvimos detrás de este rebranding.

HyperOS toma varias inspiraciones sutiles de la identidad estética de otros sistemas operativos como iOS, algo que podría indignar a algunos puristas de Android, pero que personalmente pienso que juega a favor de Xiaomi.

Los nuevos iconos del sistema son agradables y el nuevo centro de control logra sentirse renovado y refrescante sin alejarse demasiado de lo que conocíamos previamente, lo mismo podría decirse denlos menús de configuración y la interface general.

Desde un punto de vista estético lo único que no acaba de gustarme es la nueva notificación de reproducción de música/multimedia, minimalista y coherente con el resto del sistema operativo, pero extremadamente desabrido.

La mayor inclusión de HyperOS es sin duda el nuevo set de opciones de personalización para la pantalla de bloqueo, una mejora considerable respecto a la versión anterior que puede abrumar al principios pero que progresivamente puede dar pie a creaciones estupendas.

En términos de rendimiento hay poco que decir, en este aspecto es una actualización bastante conservadora, la batería sigue funcionando bien y no he experimentado relentizaciones que antes no estuviesen.

¿Valió la pena la espera? Dependiendo de las expectativas de cada quien, HyperOs es una actualización sólida que mejora varios detalles y que habla muy bien del potencial de Xiaomi a largo plazo.
