Signing Up for Chat GPT application to explore Generative AI

Hello and Namaste Everyone

This time one word is very popular everywhere and this is called chat GPT. I have been hearing this word for more than 6 months but I had no idea what this is all about. I'm not good at technology and the phone is the only electronic device that I use a lot in my day-to-day life. I use very limited applications on my phone and out of this WhatsApp is the most used application for me.

A few days back my son told me about chat GPT. He got to know through his classes because now his schools are teaching about this application to the students. This is good because a student should be aware of the latest things that can help them. School is also planning to start some homework related to chat later on but as of now, this is just a plan. When he told me about this application I thought of checking it out. I did some Google searches and also watched some videos on YouTube to figure out more about it.

Now I got to know that this is an application developed by a company called Open AI. This is an application part of the artificial intelligence technology and it works on a generative AI model. It can do a lot for us but it is best used for generating some type of responses and this is why it is called generative AI. We are surrounded by artificial intelligence technology in many ways. I have an Alexa smart device at home and this is also an artificial intelligence device built by Amazon. It also does a lot for me it just needs voice command so chat GPT is similar and works based on written command. This written command is called prompt and it plays a very important and crucial role in chat get.

There are multiple applications available now built on the same model but chat GPT is the most popular because it is the first one. Now even Google has launched its AI bot called Google Bard and even Facebook and Microsoft are also working on it. I got to know that Microsoft has integrated the chat GPT in its binge search engine which is integrated with Edge browser. I can see this option on my laptop but never used it because I did not know how it worked. For me, it was just an upgraded version of the browser that was offering some automated response. It's been a few months for me when I upgraded the Edge browser but I never cared to check out more details.

I tried signing up but looks like it was not a good day for me because I was not successful. There is a proper signup process that should be followed and we need to provide an email along with a mobile number to complete the process. The first step asks for the email ID that I provided and verified using the link shared by Open AI. In the next step, I entered my mobile number and it was supposed to send an OTP for verification. This step was not complete for me and I don't know why it has been happening with me because I tried a few times. There could be the scenario of overloaded servers and because of that, I'm not getting the top.

I clicked on the Signup option and on the next page, I keyed in my email address. There are multiple options that we can choose one and go ahead with email.

It says that an email is sent to my email box and I need to click on the link to verify. This is how they want to verify if the email is valid or not.

This is the email I received and I verified the email by clicking on the green button.

On the next page, I needed to enter the mobile number and I did it. I chose the WhatsApp option as No because I did not want them to send me OTP through WhatsApp.

Now on this page, the real problem starts because even after trying for couple of times I did not get the OTP on my phone. It keeps on moving and moving and does not move to the next phase and I don't know whether this is happening with me only or something wrong with this website. I hope the website is fast enough to respond to users because it has a heavy user base.

Because I could not continue further my account is not created on chat GPT but I'll be trying it after some time to see if it works. I have not tried the Google Bard but we'll be trying that later. I think there can be some technical problem with this so I hope this should be resolved soon and then it will allow me to register.

I got to know that there are two ways to use and it also includes the premium version but for individuals free version is also good enough. I will not be paying any money for the premium version because I don't know how it works and free is good for me so it does not make sense to go with the paid version. I'll keep on trying and will be sharing further updates about my experience on chat GPT later.
