Repetitive jobs for humanoid robots.

Repetitive jobs for humanoid robots.

When we think about humanoid robots, it is still common to imagine them as strange prototypes, surrounded by engineers, cables and curiosity, machines in testing, promises in the demonstration phase, but believe it, that stage is now behind us.

In real factories, humanoid robots began taking on repetitive tasks as part of the normal production flow, side by side with humans, at SANY Heavy Energy's smart manufacturing plant, two of these new colleagues work together every day.

One stops and collects screws, the other receives the signal, organizes, transfers, returns empty trays and restarts the cycle, alone, without pause, without constant supervision, each movement is adjusted by computer vision. The robobos evaluate the difficulty of grasping each piece, reposition the object and execute the task with extreme precision.

The work is simple and that is precisely why it is perfect for them, monotonous, repetitive, physically exhausting for humans and predictable for machines and efficiency is not even the limit, today one screw every 20 seconds is enough to integrate into the production line, if that time drops by 3 seconds, the robots begin to fully meet industrial demand.

At the same time, outside of factories, humanoids are beginning to appear in even more sensitive environments, hospitals, energy inspections, commercial services. In Beijing, an entire store is dedicated to the sale of humanoid robos with simulated scenarios of pharmacy, nursing and industrial lines.

More than 35 different models, thousands of visitors per month, robos are not yet as flexible as humans, but they are already reliable enough to take on functions that almost no one has wanted to do for a long time. With state support, clear industrial goals and scaled production, China is transforming manuals of technological curiosity into productive infrastructure.

Something as common as forklifts, conveyor belts or industrial arms, humanoid robots cease to be novelty and become a tool, they become routine and when that happens, we come to the conclusion that these machines are going to expand and I am left imagining how our societies are going to adapt when the presence of theft stops attracting attention.
