Red cotton stainer
Nature never runs out of ways to tell stories, and this morning I discovered a beautiful pair of creatures courting each other on a green leaf. There was no sound, no screaming, let alone singing. They were present in silence, their bodies connected in a barely perceptible harmony. It wasn't just a normal activity; they were performing a sacred ritual, practiced by life before them. They were striving to ensure that their colors, shapes, and patterns would remain forever.
The insect I found was a red cotton stainer. This insect is a true ladybug species from the Pyrrhocoridae family. This insect is known as a major pest of cotton plants. They attack cotton plants by sucking the sap from the cotton plant. Their targets are young bolls, cotton flowers, and young branches. However, I found this not on a cotton plant, but on a small bush in a local oil palm plantation.
