Larva of the blue-banded king crow butterfly

As usual before doing the real activity, I took a moment to walk in the open air. Breathing fresh air before doing heavy activities is very necessary. I also used that time to look for interesting things that nature has prepared every second. There are so many interesting things that we can enjoy, as long as we are willing to take a moment.

One of the interesting things is like what I found. This is the larva of the blue-banded king crow butterfly which in Latin is known as Euploea eunice and comes from the brush-footed butterflies family. I found the caterpillar crawling on a branch of a plant. At first he was very agile walking on the branch of the plant. I approached him with full alertness, considering that he was busy walking with very agile movements.

When I arrived near the caterpillar, I felt nervous, afraid that he would jump. It turned out my guess was wrong. The caterpillar was very shy, he immediately buried his head under his body. That was something unique and made it even more interesting for me to observe. After observing for a while, I found one thing that was very different from other caterpillars I had ever found. This caterpillar had four pairs of filaments.

Basically, this caterpillar has a very small body size. However, its striking color makes it easy for me to find its whereabouts. The costume it has is very beautiful, similar to the color of a zebra, namely white decorated with black stripes. On the side of its body there is a striking orange color that makes the caterpillar's appearance even more prominent.

I can imagine. I can imagine what it will be like to see it live. If through photographs it is something magnificent, seeing it in its own environment will be something extraordinary.

Nice caterpillar! I was looking at this butterfly on iNaturalist. Whenever I see an interesting caterpillar, I wonder what it will hatch into.
