Jezebel's painted butterfly

avatar

On a beautiful, peaceful morning, the sun was shining brightly and a fresh breeze carried the scent of earth, just awakened from its long sleep last night. A beautiful butterfly appeared from behind the bushes, approaching a white flower standing proudly amidst the dense greenery.

I slowly approached its location. I noticed it was very sensitive to its surroundings. It nearly flew away as I approached. I took the picture from a bit further away. Shortly after I snapped the shot, it immediately moved on to a flower out of my reach.

The color combination of this butterfly was stunning: its white, black, yellow, and orange wings blended beautifully in one frame. Its body and eyes were bluish-gray. Its antennae were black, while its legs matched its body.

The butterfly I encountered was called a painted Jezebel, or Delias hyparete in Latin. This butterfly is a medium-sized butterfly from the Pieridae family. It favors colorful flower gardens and fresh, wild shrubs.

Wow, that butterfly looks absolutely beautiful. And its colors have such unique and beautiful patterns. Hopefully, I'll find another one of this kind on my next hunt.
