Hubner wasp moth
Have you ever seen a small insect with such beautiful patterns? If not, let's get to know it. This beautiful insect is called the Hubner wasp moth, or some call it the tiger moth. In Latin, this tiny insect is known as Amata huebneri, a moth belonging to the genus Amata and belonging to the Erebidae family. I found this moth resting peacefully on a fresh green leaf.
The coloration of this moth is very beautiful, orange with black stripes. At first glance, the pattern is very similar to a bee or wasp. Its wings are also black and orange. The pattern on its wings is also very beautiful, resembling a neatly arranged transparent window. These colors and patterns are not only for beauty but also serve as natural defense. As we know, predators dislike bees or wasps. They are not tasty snacks. Having an appearance almost identical to a wasp or bee is quite miraculous, and it can deceive predators with ease.
Furthermore, this moth is very different from other moths in general. Moths are generally nocturnal, but this moth is most active when the sun begins to shine. Like most other insects, it prefers grassy areas and other shrubs in the wild.
