Henosepilachna pusillanima ladybug
On the edge of a green leaf covered in small wounds, a tiny ladybug rested peacefully. At first glance, it resembled a ladybird, but don't be fooled, it wasn't the ladybird often considered a farmer's friend. It was Henosepilachna pusillanima, a plant-destroying beetle. The beetle I found was particularly fond of eggplant plants, feeding on their young leaves. I found it nestled among the grass in a local resident's eggplant garden.
This insect is very small, but its bright coloration made it easy to spot. Its reddish-orange color, combined with black dots, perfectly matched the leaf it landed on. The leaf appeared torn here and there, leaving holes and bites that formed a natural pattern. At first glance, it looked ordinary, but upon closer inspection, its true beauty lay. It stood on the edge of the leaf, where the bite marks had been left, its charm resembling a tiny wanderer on a green cliff.
