Fruit-piercing moth caterpillar | Eudocima phalonia
Hello everyone, good afternoon wherever you are, how are you this afternoon? Hope you are fine wherever you are.
I"m back here again and on this occasion I want to show you some beautiful shots of the common fruit-piercing moth caterpillar. The caterpillar comes from an insect species from the Erebidae family. These caterpillars are known as pests that will attack fruit-bearing plants such as mango trees, rambutan trees and so on. This caterpillar prefers plants with large fruit.
As I found, this caterpillar was on a weed plant under a large mango tree. Most likely the caterpillar fell and got stuck there. On top of the tree there were several woodpeckers. Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture this beautiful bird. They were at the height of the tree, while my cell phone camera didn't reach that far.
When I first met this caterpillar, I was a little creeped out, its body was big and long. The meat on his body was very tender. The caterpillar was walking around there, when I approached closer it suddenly stopped and buried its head in its body. At that moment my shivering soul started to struggle again, I was afraid I would jump. But my guess was not correct, he remained silent there without moving an inch.
On its body there is a unique pattern that looks like a pair of big eyes. For more details, let's look at it together below👇
