Flea beetle

Sometimes, a marvel does not appear in a grand form like the beetle I encountered here. It was simple in shape, tiny in size, and modest in color. I am certain many eyes would overlook it; even I almost failed to notice the beetle resting on the leaf's surface. When I found it, the beetle was wandering across a leaf that was vast compared to its own minuscule body.

To the naked eye, the beetle appeared ordinary. Yet, when I zoomed in with my phone camera, it looked extraordinary, enhanced by its beautiful, softly shimmering golden hue. I continued to admire the beetle's beauty through my phone screen. The longer I gazed at it, the more I felt that every creature is created with remarkable beauty and purpose.

The beetle I encountered was a flea beetle, a type of leaf-eating beetle belonging to the Chrysomelidae family. These beetles favor habitats abundant in host plants; the one I found was on an "Israel grass" plant. It seemed to have just arrived on that leaf, as I saw no signs of activity there yet the leaf's surface remained pristine.
