Eumerus figurans

On a green leaf still wet with morning dew, a tiny creature was dancing busily. It looked like it was doing gymnastics. Its movements were very agile, following the rhythm of the song of a yellow-vented bulbul, which was also in the area. I was intrigued by their antics. As the yellow-vented bulbul chirped rapidly, the tiny insect also danced with rapid movements. Judging by their behavior, it seemed they had been together many times.

Judging by its color, this insect closely resembled a wasp or bee. However, when we examine the rest of its body, it was clear it was neither a wasp nor a bee. The hallmark of wasps and bees is their long antennae. However, the insect I encountered had short antennae with rounded tips. These characteristics are typical of flies. While the others are very similar, the only difference is its antennae. It was one of the fortunate insects to have a color similar to wasps and bees, a color that predators dislike.

However, there's one thing you should know, even though it's called a fly, it doesn't have a job like the flies we often encounter. This fly performs a similar function to wasps and bees. It favors green environments and colorful flower gardens. In Latin, this fly is known as Eumerus figurans and belongs to the Syrphidae family.

Microphotography is much more interesting. Everything becomes very clear. These pictures are also quite good.
